Football program getting the death penalty due to finances. Oh, wait a minute. That was a Texas school.

No they won’t.

why should it bother you to begin with
Because my alma mater will be on the hook for Kelly’s $54 million (plus any additional add by the courts) and the insane paycheck for a coach who hasn’t done anything at the 4 colleges he has head coached, which will likely have an insane buyout that will dwarf Kelly’s, resulting in even more insanity after Kiffin is ultimately let go.

They are literally paying him his $800,000 every two weeks as per the contract..... Both sides want a lump sum settlement so it's over so he doesnt have to look for another job. God some people dont know how anything works

They WERE paying him because they put him on administrative leave while they witch-hunted him.

Then, the BOT voted for a for-cause termination on Friday…which means he should have received or be receiving his final termination check. That termination check will pay for the pay period elapsed since his last check plus any severance that the BOT “voluntarily” paid him.

I say “voluntarily” because the BOT has acted like he committed a major HR violation (see Bobby Petrino and Hugh Freeze as previous examples where a just, verifiable and major violation of policy/procedure occurred).

This is all the doing of LSU. No one is forcing LSU to sign these contracts.

A&M is actually paying an insane buyout that the university agreed to contractually?

These buyouts are not some buried legaleze that amount to hidden terms and deception. The buyout is a primary feature of the contract along with base salary, incentives and term.

I understand that.

I just think the amount paid is moronic.

Kelly wasn’t worth the $90+ million/ten year contract he was offered initially.

Kiffin isn’t worth what LSU is offering him.

If LSU is lucky they get to pay Kelly's full buy out plus all his legal fees for collecting it.

LSU is flirting with being hit with a defamation of character lawsuit from BK. His lawyers won't have any problem finding a jury that will award him an extra 10- 15 million because his future earnings potential is hurt by the allegations.

He was "ok" to be Coach before the kickoff with Aggies.

Sure we are

Delusion is the hope that Lane has just been totally fricking with LSU, while making this the shittiest two weeks ever for Ole Miss In the meantime while trying to make a playoff, and he’s just doing it to frick with LSU. If that ain’t delusion, I don’t know what is.

I think the money was paid out within two weeks of termination, per the contract.

After presenting the donation check to the AD at half time of his final game as HC. Presented the check at halftime, fired his arse after the game.

Ice cold. And I kinda loved it.

There are a lot of children's hospitals down there. They'll come up with the money.

BK probably has his phone on mute because of the vast number of ambulance chasers who are begging to represent him on a contingency basis.

I am no BK fan, but that man is going to at the very least be paid every penny the contract says, plus all his legal costs for collecting. And Woodward getting paid also.

Verge doesn't strike me as a financial wizard but they better get their shite together or LSU athletics is gonna end up being gutted.

And offering $15:million per year for the newest shiny toy after all these costs looks like fiscal insanity.

you do realize it is typical for both sides to negotiate when this happens right? it would be pure stupidity to pay a lump sum of 54 mil when that money was to be paid out over the next say 5-6 yrs at 800k a month. Ever notice how powerball winners are paid a lump sum or annuity? the lump sum, which is far less than the annuity is basically what the lotto would have to purchase the annuity for
