But because of how it's built if you were walking on the east corridor you can still see the inner bowl. But I doubt many pics of those will pull up in Google.

I like open look stadiums too. Here's a photo from the early 1980s. We lost our views through our expansions. The family who donated the land in the 1930s or whatever had stipulated that the stadium forever remain open-ended to preserve the great views to the south. But I guess they all died and we said frick it.
One reason I expect we will always have some high-rise dorms and buildings is because of the incredible views from those buildings, until all of the hillsides get built upon (if we continue the NWA growth frenzy).

Late to the party, but I really like this.

Yeah, that is pretty cool.
At the rate we change things, it's probably the exact same show...just more band members.

Wow, that's an awesome photo. 84 years ago. I would love to go back in time and listen to that half-time performance.

Apparently Missouri was celebrating Michael Sam back then...

Oh my God, what a pile of shite. The stories of that place being a tetanus-filled shite hole are legend. Larry Munson wasn't joking around when he said "Well, the stadium- the stadium fell down. Now they DO have to renovate this thing, they'll have to rebuild it now..." ater Lindsay Scott's long run in 1980. It's amazing the ancient death traps they'd let people pay money to sit and sweat in pre-90s

I'm very biased, but it still looks like Georgia Southern's stadium to me. Granted 1.) I've never sat inside Faurot and 2.)Isn't this just phase 1 of expansion?

Not sure when that was made, but if it's old enough it was probably back when Mizzou's colors were Red/Maroon and Gold.
That's good Mizzou trivia if you ever need any for some reason. A lot of Mizzou fans don't know the original colors were Red and Gold.
Also, Penn State's original colors were Pink and Black.

It's pretty surprising this hasn't been done anywhere in the SEC yet
We have been doing it for a while.

I kinda get what you're saying, but Faurot seats 71,000+ so they aren't even close to the same level.
Georgia Southern
Faurot

well it's obviously much bigger, it's still the same basic concept. kinda like UVA as well

Ga Southern is in the process of double decking theirs, but yeah there's still no comparison in terms of size. It's just the general look of the stadiums is very similar. Faurot just doesn't seem to be all that big. Maybe it's the grass areas or the stadium is expanding outward rather than up?

I wonder if the 71,000 includes the rocks. The rocks are numbered right?
All kidding aside, it does look small. IF there are 71,0000 seats then all the pictures are misleading.

Faurot is more like Michigan Stadium or maybe even Notre Dame Stadium. When it was originally constructed in the 20s it was designed to be expanded to 95,000 in a single bowl configuration since the whole cantilevering upper decks thing wasn't quite affordable/feasible back then. That was really the only way to do it.
That's one of my issues with Faurot, too much lateral distance between the higher seats and the field. I think it would have been awesome if they'd have knocked more of the original stand structure down and built the upper deck closer, or did the ole putting the whole thing on jacks, raising the stands and adding more seats closer thing.

71k includes SRO
Our stadium looks smaller than it is because it's mostly below ground. The East side tower made a huge difference as far as what it looks like from the outside.
South side expansion would add more presence as well.
