I think having 2 locker rooms may be somewhat(minor) inconvenience. Do they carry their pads, helmets, jerseys, pants socks, shoes, braces, arm bands, etc to both? Or just have 2 sets of everything? If I leave my lucky hat in the football facility locker, I have to run across the street to get it for gameday. That seems like an annoyance if it could have been avoided.
everything LSU fball does day to day is at the practice facility. The locker room at the stadium is only used on gameday. And if a player had a lucky jock strap he needed, I'm sure the managers would be more than happy to scoop it up for them on gameday. It's kind of in their job description to have everything ready for them on gameday. Or they could have just one locker room at the stadium and have to walk a quarter mile to practice everyday

It makes sense. I understand waste. Its actually my job to eliminate it. I was just asking the question.

The equipment managers just bring it across and up the street to the stadium.

i wouldn't call it waste. people donated money to pay for it. unless you also think having a waterfall in your locker room is a waste. imo, it's only a waste if it's being paid for with taxpayer money. but if some rich a-hole wants to donate a few million dollars so everyone on the team can have their own personal masseuses and daycare service, i couldn't really care less. come to think of it, a child daycare service would actually benefit most of the team

As I said, it's a question of design philosophy. Texas A&M built the Bright Center up next to Kyle Field. In order to do that the Aggies settled for only two practice fields. LSU, on the other hand, wanted more practice fields, and room to grow. As showed in this pic...

...the football ops center is just down the street. That's where all the equipment is stored. Everything the players and coaches need is carried either to the plane, the bus, in the truck, or the stadium by the football staff...that's their function. LSU was willing to build the football ops center where it is in order to have more space, thus more outdoor practice fields. Having more space means it's easy to update the ops center. That's the tradeoff.

As I pointed out in the other thread...
quote:
LSU stays at The Cook Hotel on campus.
Conveniently located on Sorority Row, alongside University lake...

Where does your team stay and where do they fly
...so when the team makes it's entrance into Tiger Stadium, everything is there waiting on them.

Love the new upgrade.. The new Kyle Field is definitely one of my favorite stadiums not named Husky Stadium.
OAN: the plaza around Williams-Brice is coming along nicely and should be completed by our first home game. New indoor practice facility is nearing completion and should be completed by September or so. New practice fields are completed... we've been practicing on them for a few months now.
I would post pics but I'm on my smartphone. Hopefully a fellow gamecock will add some pics of everything mentioned..

Kyle Field is the best stadium in the SEC, by far.
