Yeah, what exactly did the Old South 'stand for'?
A lot of Southerners abhor the slavery part of the old south, but still think of it as a time of old mansions, moss dripping from the tress and genteel manners.
Should we all hate Berkeley for the way they treated Mexicans? I mean California was a part of Mexico at one time, was it not? Why do they get a pass?

How in he balls did the SEC not choose a truck full of the most hardcore and in your face Ole Miss country boys and pay their way to spend a week there and film all interactions before the game. Rebel flags and all, it would be freaking must see TV.

Remember, treat ANTIFA the same way you'd treat the most beloved member of you family

Unfortunately, a lot of people don't fly flags that were used to represent stately oaks and broad magnolias. They don't put up statues of Clark Gable.
Ole Miss fought very hard to keep their symbol of a treasonous group of men who fought to maintain slavery.
Remember the prosperous times of the Old South, sure. But it's not exactly genteel manners to flaunt symbols of white supremacy.
Now let the commence!

George Washington, Ben Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson will see you now.

I'm confused. Do I have to hate on oak and magnolia trees now or I'm a white supremacist? I could sacrifice oaks but if loving the magnolia is wrong, I don't want to be right.

So much ignorance in this day in age. People don't even know why the south went to war with the north lol. It wasn't over slavery, it was over taxes. Educate yourself.

is this post some sort of ironic, hipster statement?

Tell me. Would it treasonous if they fought people like you, if they didn't have slaves?
I mean, what if it was because they found you revolting, and wanted to have no shared anything with you?
The Civil War really isn't my big historical period to be fascinated by. But the sheer lack of knowledge of anything regarding it or the period guys like you display appalls me.
The North/South dichotomy in this country was present from the very beginning. My personal bet is if slave one had never come to America (as opposed to coming as indentured servants like most of us white folk), there still would have been an armed conflict between the sides.
And that treasonous meme... geez do you guys have talking points sessions where you are taught to use that phrase? Seems more like a word a guy with mutton chops and a greatcoat would throw around, as opposed to SJW's.
Do you get a warm fuzzy, using such a bold dramatic word? You know:
"Constance gasped. 'Heathcliff!,' Constance purred. 'Uttering... that.. that word... you're such a beast!,' she intoned as she licked her lips and stared hungrily at the ground."
or is it:
"Marmaduke gasped. 'Heathcliff!,' Marmaduke purred. 'Uttering... that.. that word... you're such a beast!,' he intoned as he licked his lips and stared hungrily at the ground."
Were New England separatists around the 1812 period treasonous? What about these Calexit people now? They treasonous?
Was West Virginia treasonous to secede from Virginia? Or was that blessed by the angels, like the Revolutionary War?

Texas' declaration of secession:
Educate yourself.
quote:
We hold as undeniable truths that the governments of the various States, and of the confederacy itself, were established exclusively by the white race, for themselves and their posterity; that the African race had no agency in their establishment; that they were rightfully held and regarded as an inferior and dependent race, and in that condition only could their existence in this country be rendered beneficial or tolerable.
Educate yourself.

You know I just noticed your sig.
Looks like a lego WWII German soldier.
And a French phrase for a handle.
Hmmm High School French was a long time ago. But I'm guessing "Victoire" means victory (if it isn't some piece of furniture).
And Securise means "Security?"
What's the story here? I picked my handle because I have a sunny disposition and never show rancor.

States' rights
The South specifically fought against States' Rights. The South was against the Free States' "unconstitutional " actions of claiming escaped slaves as free. Remember, federal law had been constructed by the slave-holding majority in Congress for years. The South was losing control and saw their slavery gravy train being halted by abolishonists.
Again from Texas' secession:
quote:
By the disloyalty of the Northern States and their citizens and the imbecility of the Federal Government, infamous combinations of incendiaries and outlaws have been permitted in those States and the common territory of Kansas to trample upon the federal laws, to war upon the lives and property of Southern citizens in that territory, and finally, by violence and mob law, to usurp the possession of the same as exclusively the property of the Northern States.

Someone bring one of these. Those pussies won't do shite
Or bring one of these. They still won't do shite. This time because they don't know what it is and the media hasn't told them to be upset by it yet

If the US is only a place where you get mail, then why do y'all get upset when Kaep kneels for the anthem?
All this talk about "the old south" & bringing rebel battle flags to the game, yet you're cheering on black kids who don't share the same thoughts as you.
