Texas’ OL had the best pass blocking grade in CFB coming in to last week not sure if they are still there. However, Texas surrendered 7 sacks to UGA and only 3 were on OL. Ewers held the ball or bailed on the pocket.
He isn’t firing and letting it go. Probably still worried about getting hit

Wow, I thought I was one of the old ones around here.
I like Ewers. He carries himself well and seems pretty grounded. I don't think he lives up to his hype. He was way overhyped as a recruit. He has not performed as well as most thought he would. He is not a bad QB but I would certainly not consider him elite. There was a reason OSU kept him on the bench.
I believe when he decided to switch to UTrans, all that hype just started all over again as UTrans does with all of their recruits.
He may get a job in the NFL but I it will probably be in a backup role.

I asked the exact same thing yesterday and received nothing of substance or plain shite posts. Stuff like “what about Weigman?”
I was really talking about national media because he was being mentioned frequently. Great stats games and a huge game against Bama.
Where did Heisman hype come from and where did it go so quickly?

My answer would be that most people don't look beyond stats (including media folks).
Last year Ewers passed for 3400 yards, 22 TD and 6 INT for a team that went to the playoffs.
That's all most needed to see to label him as "elite".

So why did the pundits , media etc see him as a Heisman Candidate and NFL player ?
Ewers has always been set up to succeed. He was a high 5 star QB recruit with a nearly perfect score. He went to Ohio State a high profile school and transferred to another media-friendly program in Texas. In short, he was always going to get the attention for better or worse.
This season has certainly exposed some of his not-so-great traits as a QB and likely will affect his draft position unless Ewers turns things around quickly. Texas needs Quinn to not sack himself, extend more plays through better pocket awareness/footwork, and make a few throws beyond the first read. Doing all those things will not only make Ewers more draftable, but will also help Texas win games the rest of the way.

I can't answer your question, but congrats on being the only poster in this board who was alive the last time your in-state rival won a national championship.
I'm sure UTx's success since then has helped you get over it.

The other part that bothers me is where this season goes with him playing like this. Granted Georgia played lights out but a lot of that was on Ewers. With him like he is playing, I see a 9-3 season which will be an underachieving result in my book.
