The Honey Badger said / wrote this? I'm surprised and impressed.
I ain't gonna lie -- that was my first thought too.
I'll bet they just read that statement to him and asked him if he agreed with it. No different than a politician issuing a statement one of his staffers wrote and he just said run with it.

I think until the kickoff

Doesn't sound like a denial that he failed 10 drug tests.
It wasn't.
I would bet most of those failed tests were for Spice back when Spice was known to be the one thing you couldn't get busted for. Problem for TM7 was that he couldn't quit before LSU started punishing Spice users.
That's my best guess because appears to be exactly what happened at Auburn with Dakota Mosely. Per ESPN, he failed the Spice test 7 times and they didn't do anything to him because legally they said they couldn't yet.
Deadspin article re: TM7 from Oct 2011: If you're a student athlete, fake pot is the way to go

Dayum.
How did you lose a bet to an Auburn fan? That seems unpossible lately.
I do love that sig. Post more often.

Tyrann definitely wrote the entire thing. Hats off to the LSU English department.

Well we now have two versions of his story. That he did fail the tests, and that he didnt. Both cant be true.
Unless there is more than the article quote above, I don't see two sides yet. Did tm7 say he didn't fail 10+ drug test anywhere.

It was already admitted that he was just trolling.

The assistant who passed along that story also told USA Today that Mathieu’s statement had him questioning LSU as much as he questions Mathieu.
Haven't read all 12 pages but my main thought when I first read the story was who is this motherfrickin assistant and what's his beef with LSU?

The OP which I assume was Trey.

Correct.
I don't see where LSU or TM7 deny he failed 10 tests.
Based on what we've seen reported about Auburn, I think it's quite plausible that TM7 failed a bunch of times for Spice when they first started testing but the school was only warning players and not doing anything about it.
Found the NCAA news release from December 2010. Spice was banned effective August 2011. Between December 2010 and August 2011, schools were expected to be educating their athletes about the synthetics.
quote:
At its recent annual meeting, the [NCAA committee] also added so-called “synthetic marijuana” drugs - including K2, Spice Gold, and other herbal incense products - to the banned-substances list. These drugs mimic tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, which gives marijuana its potency.
The committee also clarified the existing ban for hCG to apply for men only since it is not performance-enhancing in women. Those changes to the list of NCAA-banned drug classes are scheduled to go into effect in August 2011, which will allow time to educate the membership.

Which probably explains why Mathieu wasn't punished until the fall of 2011. He could smoke all the Spice he wanted for much of 2011. Probably failed several tests in the first half of 2011, got warned and never got his shite together. Like Dakota Mosely (so ESPN tells us anyway).

If it was spice during the "legal" period, then there is no issue. Just more fluff riding the coat tails of the auburn hit piece.

If Honey Badger played for Auburn, ESPN would give us every detail of every puff of smoke that ever touched TM7's lungs.

Ask him how many drug tests he failed, Ice.
ETA: Please don't ban Trey. If you do that, then I can't enjoy his sig image.
