Well, it's not. As much as I agree with that statement, the fact is.. it's not. Mathieu's actions were a violation of team policy. The fact that his actions involved an illegal substance doesn't really bother me at all.
Well, I know that

Any fan of a team trying to boom someone about their team's drug policy (cough Trey) is just being a hypocrit. We're all in the same boat.
We are most certainly not. Alabama, unlike LSU, does not allow a player to fail over 10 drug tests.

Most likely whoever wrote the article just made shite up.

If you're just reporting the news and not trolling, then you might want to update your OP with the official response from TM7.

BATON ROUGE - Tyrann Mathieu has contacted LSU regarding Friday’s USA Today story that included a quote attributed to him that came from an unnamed NFL Coach. Mathieu said the story does not accurately reflect the discussions that he has had while on official visits to various NFL organizations.
“It is irresponsible and shows a lack of integrity for anyone to disclose medical information regardless of how it was gathered,” Mathieu said. “I would expect that conversations regarding my drug testing history during the course of my medical treatment would be private. LSU has a strong drug testing program and LSU went to great lengths to help me in my treatment and recovery. I understand that many people enjoy reading about the negative side of sports, but to publish those second-hand comments without being given a chance to address that comment prior to the publication of the article is irresponsible.”

Amazingly, high profile Bama players only fail drug tests after leaving the program, a la Dre Kirkpatrick.
Fail, but thanks for playing.

Without the context of the time horizon and without knowing the type of test, the raw number is meaningless. If you need it to be explained to you why that is, I can do so.

So now the question is which one is a lie. when he told NFL teams he failed over 10 tests, or this statement.
Based on the story and the statement, it isn't apparent there is a lie. What a misleading bullshite recap question.

Okay Trey
Apparently LSU doesn't either according to the disputed story. And LSU also doesn't allow their players to beat their girlfriends. You see how this works?

Well we now have two versions of his story. That he did fail the tests, and that he didnt. Both cant be true.

Let's say he did fail several drug tests. Let's say LSU is giving you the complete story you want to hear.
If we accept everything the media prints as Gospel, then let's see what ESPN had to say about Auburn's recent issues with drug tests.
quote:
THE FIRST TIME Mosley learned that he'd failed Auburn's new drug test for Spice, in February 2011, he was petrified. "I was scared that I was gonna have to call my parents again and tell them that I'd failed another drug test and I was gonna get kicked off the team," he told The Mag.
Actually nothing happened, even after he'd failed six more drug tests by March 9. Petrone did tell him to stop using the drug, but "it was kind of weird," Dakota says. "It was like you could get in trouble for doing it, but you couldn't get in trouble. It almost seemed like it was OK."
LINK
Now if Auburn had players that failed for Spice multiple times (if you believe ESPN) then it's quite possible that TM7 failed the Spice test several times before he finally got punished for it when LSU made it a banned substance in likely the same manner that Auburn did.
Spice wasn't a banned substance at the time. The NCAA had an education period for much of 2011 before it was officially banned in order for schools to have time to get tests established and to educate the athletes.
It's pretty obvious from all your posts in this thread that you'd rather troll than have a legitimate conversation about this topic.
And by the way, LSU was ahead of the NCAA's requirements (as was Auburn) for testing for Spice.
From Deadspin in Nov 2011:
quote:
Because the NCAA can't touch you for the fake stuff. Only because it was LSU doing its own optional testing did these three [Ware, Spencer and Mathieu] get caught. Drug Free Sport, which handles the NCAA's drug testing, puts players through the most common urinalysis test, which will turn up positives for the "big five": marijuana, amphetamines, heroin, opiates and PCP. This doesn't include the synthetic cannabinoids, so even if a player is chosen for NCAA drug testing the day after smoking an entire bag of spice, it wouldn't raise a red flag.
quote:
Schools can decide which drugs to test for (LSU is in the minority in that they do test for synthetic marijuana), and more importantly the schools get to hand out their own arbitrary discipline. A positive test is a mandatory one-year suspension from the NCAA, but since Mathieu, Ware and Simon ran afoul of LSU's voluntary testing, Les Miles and Joe Alleva will handle sentencing. In this case, it looks like the Fake Weed Three will miss one game.

The Honey Badger said / wrote this? I'm surprised and impressed.

Up until just now we thought TM failed 3 tests. And whether or not he actually did fail >3 is being disputed, so you can't even factually say that "he failed 10 tests." The only fact is that you have no. fricking. idea. how many drug tests any of your players have failed.
But, keep on shaking your proverbial finger at LSU. If having a holier than thou attitude about your football team makes you feel better about yourself, more power to you.

Actually, no. Either the writer made up the quote, or was lied to by an unnamed NFL coach.
But really, your concern for Mathieu and LSU's program is touching.

Doesn't sound like a denial that he failed 10 drug tests. It sounds like he's mad that his "medical information" was leaked to the public.
