Honest question on bama's d gameplan

Do you think Saban stacks the box early or just relies on keeping forenette somewhat under control in first half then stacks the box in second half in hopes of stopping him all together in second half? Or do you think he stacks the box early and makes harris perform great early.

Bama will play man the entire game.

Saban likes playing with 5 and 6 dbs these days so I think Alabama will play there base nickel defense and see if they can neutralize Fournette with only 2 LBs. If Leonard starts gashing them for 7,8,10 yards they will probably switch to a 3-4/4-3 defensive package.

If rain is coming down in buckets we might stack the box.

I think Saban will actually play with 10 men on defense, to prove a point.

Yes, they are going to make Harris prove he can beat them.

i think it would be foolish to have 5 or 6 DBs in the game while LF is in. I just dont see it happening. Maybe when hes out we will see that lineup.

Doesn't prove anything being handicapped due to excessive rain.

his MO is to not let the other team's best guy beat him. He'll put enough guys in the box to consistently stop fournette and see whether Harris can do it.

We won't have to stack the box but we won't be running dime much either. Probably running nickle mostly. Even if Harris can hit the deep ball we'd do better putting pressure on him with more DL's and LB's in the game than CB's and S's.
If Lesticle runs the offensive game plan like he did against UF it will be an easy win for the Tide. We are much better defending the deep pass (yards/avg pass) and better on the DL than UF.

Obviously and easy win.
Obviously

There will be a lot of hand checking and pulling on jerseys to contain the receivers and don't expect any PI penalties. Our guys do the same but never get away with it. Don't expect any separation because of this. Plus when we collide with a Bama defender it is like running into a Mac truck. Whoever Saban found to be their Strength and condition coach must be the greatest ever.

Saban believes in stopping the run with 7, and will virtually never "stack" the box, i.e. have 8 in the box. We'll be in base if you are in 2-wide or less. If you go three wide or more regularly, we'll be in Nickel. I doubt we'll see a ton of Dime unless it's 3rd and forever.
My guess is you'll see a similar gameplan as to what we brought against Georgia. Remember, stopping Fournette doesn't mean "stopping Fournette", it means controlling the LOS with our Front 7. Personally, I don't think Fournete will have much room between the tackles, but getting to the edge can be done - and I expect LSU to try it frequently.
We'll rush 4 mostly early, but will likely bring more heat as the game goes on, and probably end up bringing 5 on most plays in the 4th. We'll play man/combo press coverage all day, and expect db's to play on islands with rotating safety help.
If you sub, we'll sub. And we'll sub even when you don't. We'll be fresh in the 4th on the Dline, unlike most schools.
In short, we'll endeavor to stop the run first and force LSU to throw, and throw into tight windows. Harris will have to be very accurate with the ball. Should be a great matchup.

5 DBs against LSU's 2 TE I-formation would be a bloodbath. Hell, 5 DBs against LSU's single TE formation would be a bloodbath.
Luckily for Bama fans, Saban isn't as stupid as you.

They'll play straight up just like they did against UGA, Wiscy, Arky, Tennessee. Why wouldn't they?

The plan isn't to "keep him somewhat under control"
The plan is to shut him the frick down with 7 men in the box.
We'll find out Saturday night whether or not the plan can be executed. If it can't, adjustments will be made. If it can, Chicken will need to employ a few more hamsters
Alabama isn't interested in moral victories. They will come out with the mindset of dominating lsu and making their arse quit. Buckle up

Miles will counter by sending out only the center and Fournette on offense.

Our plan is going to be to stack the box from play one and be extremely physical with Fournette. The plan will be to pound on him because he's gonna get 30-35 carries and when the 4th qtr starts we want him at 80% of what he would normally be. We are going to pay very little attention to the pass and take our chances. You have to attempt to take something away and Fournette is much more of a threat than the passing game. It may work and it may not but our plan will be to stop Fournette and use our size to slow him down.
