I thought the Haynes hire showed he finally figured it out. You don't think so?

Possibly. But the evidence we've actually seen says no.

I'd have been interested to see if he would have started giving Haynes some studs on defense.

And now from what we've been hearing also equal attention in practice. Which I suspected before , but now has been borne out to be true.

He and Kiffin would run CFB.

Same here. Making the hire is one thing, recruiting appropriately another.

With the assertation that this is "still Bobby's team", what are the odds that he's not talking/consulting with his son everyday? Just curious as to whether Hawg fans see that as a given. But as for his reputation making him an undesirable, just look at UK & Coach Cal. His NCAA reputation was shot to hell & he still got hired. As well, he is not well liked at all by his peers, so there is that reputation out there as well. If he cann't get a mid level college football job, I can see him going back to the NFL as an OC, as he was well thought of in that capacity before...if I am not mistaken.

and he somehow managed to get into a BCSCG he would get dismantled by the SECC. Guaranteed.

bullshite.

At Arkansas he didn't have the luxury of having intrinsically talented guys on the defensive side of the ball like LSU, Bama, TX, FL, UGA, etc due to lack of recruiting base.

At UT he'd have just as good/better of an offense as he's had at Arkansas, and he'd have studs all over the defense. Even if he didn't recruit. That school recruits itself, unfortunately.

You're delusional if you don't think UT would be competitive against the SEC if they had Petrino.

Personally I'd be jelly.

But I don't see Petrino getting a return to CFB so soon after this mess. Honestly, I see it more likely that he woudl be coming back to Arkansas before he goes to Texas next year. Texas wouldn't want to hire a coach that got fired like that IMO.

What part of recruits don't like him and he doewn care about defense are you not getting?

It was one thing when some of our fans ignored his flaws bc he was pur coach but he no longer is. Wake up.

I agree. Bobby Petrino will be very successful wherever he ends up. He basically turned around Nutt's mess in one year...and that was a virtual disaster, like he left at Ole Miss.

And yet, look at the success he had at Arkansas, which doesn't have 1/4th of the built in recruiting advantages of the state of Texas.

You're fricking retarded if you don't think he'd do better at Texas than he did at Arkansas. Texas recruits itself.

If that happened, A&M, Oklahoma and Arkansas would start getting the best Texas prospects.

Eta: LSU also

Surprised you would say that being that Arkansas rarely let a player out of the State while he was here. We had two QBs one year and we got the best one and the other one went to aubarn, which was kind of funny because aubarn thought they got the best one.

I assume that was a joke

I don't believe a bcs school admin can afford to take a chance on him. The mistakes he made go way beyond cheating on his wife with a coed.

I think he sits this year and takes a mid major job at a school that is desperate to make a jump in notoriety. He will have to prove himself all over again. A place like Memphis would be perfect.

Just my opinion....Bobby liked it at Arkansas a lot because it reminded him of Montana. I don't think Memphis qualifies. He'll get a good coaching job.

Petrino would be easy pickings to recruit against. I sure as heck don't want to have to recruit against the guy, and I sure don't want to see him coaching a team on our schedule.
