Honestly the State of Texas as they have only won one NC since 1970. All that talent, and one in 50 years?

That is because they lose so many players to out of state schools. If it wasn't for Texas, Oklahoma and a few others couldn't field a team. The other SEC schools steal quite few too. Same with California. If it wasn't for California, the PAC couldn't field a team outside of Callyfornia...

The barometer should be MINNESOTA. They have not won the Big Ten since they shared it with Indiana in 1967. They’ve not been to a Rose Bowl since the 1961 season. They last won a national title in 1960, their FOURTH of the poll era.

Michigan, Georgia, Texas A&M, UCLA, Oregon, Arkansas combined have 5 titles. They have a ton more success in the modern era. But, they all have less NCs than forgotten Minnesota.

bullshite.

Texas is the premiere program and they have underachieved. They should be at least on OU’s level historically.

Texas tends to get more top players than the others on average, but they still lose plenty of in-state blue chips to A&M, Tech, and the rest.

If UT really was THE program than every hugh school player dreams of playing for, the Andre Wares, Eric Dickersons, and Johnny Manziels of the last 50 years would have all ended up in Austin, and they probably would have more titles. That just isn't the reality. There are a lot of options and a lot of divided loyalties that keep any ine program from dominating the state in recruiting.

Notice how UF, FSU, The U have all been less competitive since UCF, USF, FAU and FIU have come along

UF and FSU just need an elite coach. I think money, along with bad hires, has been Miami's undoing. Back in the '80s and '90s facilities weren't as important and coaches (much less coordinators) weren't banking millions. The U can't afford to play with the big boys in the modern college game. The program doesn't have enough support and leaving the state to play ball is more common for athletes nowadays.
