If not for these so called "sidewalk fans" most schools would not be able to fill stadiums. I attended UTK and have friends that did not, they are just as passionate as I am about the athletic program.

About the athletics program. What about the actual school? Alums love their school. Sidewalkers love the football and/or basketball teams. Like someone already said, being there nearly every day between December and the following September gives you a much different relationship with the school itself than what non-alums/students get by going there 4 or 5 Saturdays a year for football games.

I actually think it will surprise most people, but I'd say Arky. I've noticed a lot of them aren't even from Arkansas and didn't attend college in Fayetville either.

would say LSU has a huge amount of sidewalk fans. Every toothless redneck in North Louisiana (where I live now) is adorned with a walmart LSU shirt or hat. I think it is hilarious

Amen. I graduated from LSU in the mid 80's and it's funny how many people you see w/ LSU garb on (especially since 2003). Most of them couldn't find Baton Rouge on a map. But their dollars are supporting my university - go for it!

LSU and Alabama have to be among the highest.

Most people in Lousiana can't even spell LSU, that's why the get the shirts, to remind them.

Also, in Alabama, they tattoo a picture of Bear Bryant on the arse of all newborns. Which probably explains why all the Auburn fans are butthurt all the time.

Nobody admits to being an Ole' Miss or Mississippi State fan, even if they graduated from there.

Auburn fans are Alabama fans 95% of the time and then they become Auburn fans for about 10 minutes before they get put on probation again.

Arkansas fans are pretty solid, although they have to defend their state borders from the really crappy states around it.. like Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and Missouri.

I'm pretty sure you're allowed to be a fan of a University if it has the state name and you're from that state. Also, if you attend there.

Also, I'm a 2010 sidewalk fan at Arkansas and will be again in 2013.

My name was supposed to on the sidewalk going around the greek theater and at the last second we all got bumped to back behind the old engineering building. Super lame.

You guys and your 3 year degrees to get on the sidewalk twice.

I'm a sidewalk and who could've gone to UA, but I chose to get the hell out of this anal-hole state, while I was in my prime.

But this is the gayest topic ever. Right now I live approximately 20 miles from AU's campus and I know several Auburn "fans" who have never even seen Auburn's campus, despite living right down the street.
