Pank, it looks like tupelo will catch only the southern tip of what Oxford got.
good deal. The taint of the storm shouldn't produce any of the bad stuff.

Looks like I'm going to be tornado chasing today after I eat lunch.

i've noticed over the years that all the bad storms get diverted north of Oxford.
All tornado prone areas seem to have areas that are magnets. In the Tuscaloosa area it's from the Shelton State/HillCrest area over to Woodland Forrest and then Cottondale. This area had a tornado 2 weeks ago in the exact same track that an EF4 tornado tracked on Dec 16, 2000. In Bham, it's Hueytown, Oak Grove, etc. (west/northwest Jefferson County).

Unfortunately there is no real reason to cancel all classes. I have a bunch of flooding on the streets in my neighborhood but should be fine soon. It's just rain at this point.

The one that touched down the weekend of the 16th hit the neighborhood that my brother and his wife live in right beside Shelton State. My gf and I were headed out of town that day to go to Orange Beach and it hit right after we passed that area. Then they started giving reports of 100mph winds in Greensboro so it was like well what do you do? If you go back you're heading towards a tornado and if you keep going then you're heading towards more potential tornados. So I bumped it up to about 65-70 and kept trucking. We got hit by about 3 pieces of hail this side of Greensboro (no damage to my truck thankfully) but that was all we encountered. As soon as we got through Greensboro and headed towards Faunsdale it was smooth sailing the rest of the way.

I have an Auburn friend I grew up with whose grandparents were killed in that tornado. I can't imagine how scary it would be to take a direct hit from an F5 at night.
