I love UF as far as the university goes, but every time I want to go out for a bite to eat, Gainesville makes me miss the hell out of living in Austin. Every time someone suggests Sonny's has good brisket, I laugh until I cry.

That being said, Hogan's makes a pretty good sandwich, so I guess they get my nod. Flaco's is pretty good too for a late night Cuban sandwich and coffee. I have no idea how authentic it is, but it tastes pretty damned fine.

Hey man it's cool. There is this badass pizza place in Oxford that's a real hidden gem too, it's called Papa John's, ever heard of it?

I despise buffalo wild wings. If you support Bdubs you support the buckeyes.

it's pretty close to campus but it's a pretty cool little bar called Billy's. Serve some decent food and have cheap drinks.

The OT told Bundy to go there this upcoming weekend. I think he's gonna try it out for the first time.

Nice! he will not regret it. Good food that is pretty cheap for NO and tons of screens.

Pretty cheap for NO is still pretty cheap. Every time I'm down South, the prices blow me away. New Orleans, Jackson, Nashville, and Birmingham are all much cheaper than DC. Atlanta, though, that's another story.

Isn't that an old gas station, or am I thinking of another place?

Wow - this thread has brought back some good memories. I started drinking in HS at the Happy Note on Florida in BR. Sammy's, Tony's for crawfish in BR.

In T-town, Nicks in the Sticks, Kozy's

Also was curious about Harvey`s for any State fans on the board. I always thought the Tuscaloosa location was solid but it closed and a Buffalo Wild Wings has been there since. Are the Columbus/Starkvillle locations still open? I know it`s a Columbus, MS restaurant so you guys would know. Why did the Ttown location close?

I go to State and live in Columbus/Starkville. Yes, Harveys is still located in Columbus, Starkville and Tupelo. The Columbus one is my favorite and the original, est. 1991. I mentioned that place for MSU folks btw.

Backwoods Barn has some of the best catfish in Arkansas and it's all-you-can-eat for $10 IIRC

Only open on Friday and Saturday nights

It's out towards Goshen, about 15 minutes from Fayetteville. It's literally a Backwoods Barn... it looks like some roadside shack and you wouldn't guess that it's a restaurant unless you drive by it on a Friday/Saturday night, when there are at least 40 cars parked outside

So many people say Catfish Hole is the place for catfish in NWA, but I say it's Backwoods Barn

By the way, it pretty much only serves catfish and chicken, and some sides. Don't go if you aren't planning to get catfish

Not sure if its a hidden gem or been discussed but my cousin took me to Niffer's when I went to Auburn and the burgers were good. The Yuenling was better though.

No, Harry's Place is in the old Walmart shopping center on 31 near Riverchase. On the far left end if you're looking at the shopping center. Same one as On Tap.

And it is the best burger in Bham, IMO.

I don't know if it has been mentioned yet but another place in Tuscaloosa is Harry's Bar. I'm not talking about a bar visit but ordering a "Crazy Bucket" to go. I only had one in my time in college but I must say it was pretty good. That and the "Nickodemus" at Nicks in the Sticks is the closest thing Tuscaloosa has to a signature drink. Kinda like Ttown's version of a New Orleans Hurricane or Hand Grenade. The Crazy Bucket tasted somewhat similar to a Hand Grenade except it wasn't as strong. It came in what looked like a large empty paint bucket.
