The Strip is one helluva atmosphere on gameday

The cars passing through by Publix everyone knew there would be traffic so they'd make sure they are in their pimp mobiles so they can be spotted leaning back.

The bars are actually gameday friendly. Might be a 20 dollar cover charge but there was a bar with a window where you can order liquor from the sidewalk. I happily bought five fireball shots for the walk back. If anyone wants to know all things Alabama just ask me.

Just remember: if you make it past the BP gas station on the left you made it too far and could get robbed.

Yeah cover has gotten wild. Moes(a BBQ joint/bar) was charging $30 cover to get in just to eat around 2pm on Georgia gameday. Innisfree was $80. The bars on the strip look miserable as people were packed in like sardines when I walked by and the cover was probably crazy.

The school doubled in size with many of that being rich out of staters...and the number of bars remained the same.

Every game is obviously not like that but the big games are

The neighborhood just past BP station has the highest priced houses in West Alabama. Walking from strip to downtown area is very safe

For the UGA game, I was going to go into the Houndstooth and the cover was $40 and the guy checking ID's said it was getting ready to jump up to $60. We bailed and went elsewhere.

I find that very hard to believe. That BP was robbed once when I was there and there were constant UAPD communication alerts of robbery, theft, and so on in the apartments and houses beyond that area

Cover at Gallettes for UGA or AU is probably more like $75 or so on a Friday/Saturday night for a major game.

Think Bear Trap rooftop is $40-50 usually.

I’ve never seen a $50 cover anywhere in Tuscaloosa.
[quote]Not saying it doesn’t happen, but it’s not the norm.

Serious question, when was the last time you went to one of the big name bars (Gallettes, Innisfree, Rounders, etc) for one of the major games at night?

It’s always $50+ at Gallettes or Rounders for any of the major night games and usually much more than that. It’s been that way for almost a decade.

Where and when though?

The line and charge at 2pm is very different than 11pm on Sat night and the major bars are a completely different deal than the random spots downtown or whatever.

That makes sense then, you can usually get in for much less before the party crowd get going late.

Late night in Tuscaloosa has really changed, some of those places are full on dance clubs now after 9pm or whatever with girls in Vegas style club attire. The out of state influx really changed things good or bad that way, it’s much different than it used to be.

Yeah it would suck to be a young guy bar hopping nowadays in Ttown. Spending most of your money just to get in and normal girls arent even there

Seeing the girls walking around and how they’re dressed that definitely wasn’t my takeaway haha.

It would be tough as a guy without money, but that’s always been true to some degree with the Greek system, etc.

There are plenty of normal girls, they’re just hanging out at fraternity or house parties.

I mean you wouldn’t go to a Vegas club looking for a chill girl, same holds true in Tuscaloosa.

I’d argue there are roughly 2x as many girls in Tuscaloosa on a Saturday night to choose from as there were in 2005 or whatever, seems like a win to me.

Can be up to $80 and $100 although $40 and $50 bars can be found there on game day. It’s pitiful but it is what it is. Bring your wallet

Admittedly, it’s been a while since I’ve been to one of primary bars after a game. Was at Rounders pre-game this past Saturday, and Gallettes for Western Kentucky.

Don't let him fool you. The $500 isn't for covers, it's for bumps in the bathroom.

Just be glad he's only doing coke on the weekends.

Gallettes last year after LSU about ended me for the big name bars.

It’s just too much.

Too packed.
Too loud.
Too hard to get a drink.

I’m not paying $100 to do that again.

I mean I’m old, I get it. But there’s a huge diminishing return when it gets that busy IMO.

I’ve been to Vegas and Miami and at least out there you can get a table and enjoy the scene with your friends. There’s nowhere to do that at these places now.
