Kirby finished 8-5 his first year at UGA then went on to win 11 games his second year despite losing to Auburn 28-7 which was almost identical to how we lost to UGA last weekend minus our late score which admittedly didn't mean much.

Heupel went 7-6 last year and is on pace for 11 wins this year despite inheriting a wayyyyy worse situation than Kirby.

Heupel has done a great job utilizing his upperclassmen in this offense. He's certainly in the running for coach of the year.

New Iberia is too good for Heupel's head. Are you suggesting Heupel get Bamma Bangs next?

kirby won 13 games in year 2, heupel mathmatically cannot
kirby won the east in year 2, heupel will not
kirby won the SEC in year 2, heupel cannot
kirby made the playoffs in year 2, heupel will not
kirby played for a natty in year 2, heupel will not
kirby beat every one of UGA's major rivals (florida, auburn, tech, tennesse) in year 2. Heupel will not.

But yeah! I mean they both play in the SEC and did better than year 1. Lots in common!

Did Kirby inherit a Jeremy Pruitt led 3 win team that was then decimated by the transfer portal?

No he didn't. All that we know are both did amazing coaching jobs their first two seasons and Kirby has proven to be the real deal so far. Heupel is on the same trajectory until proven otherwise.

Also, Tennessee stands a somewhat decent chance at making the playoffs still then we can get those extra two wins maybe. If it doesn't happen then it's not Heupel's fault we are playing in the same division of the reigning national champs.

Bookmarked for if we get you in the playoffs again. Tennessee is on a huge trajectory up....playoffs or no playoffs.

Correct. I posted about that a week ago. Kirby's 2017 team was senior laden just like Tennessee. And it had a lot of holes on the roster, too, just like Tennessee from the previous recruiter.

The biggest difference is what the 2018 recruiting class along with the other top 3 classes did to bring Kirby to the 2021 and 2022 seasons that we have today. What will Heupel net in the 2023 class?

Let me know how Heupel is doing when he’s on his 3rd OC and DC. Handling coaching changes trips up lots of promising careers

Our 2023 class will be loaded imo. We are currently top 10 but also got a lot of big timers in our crystal ball. Pur offense is sexy and it won't be hard bringing in big time WRs and dial threat QBs. Defensive recruiting will be where Heupel's fate is determined though.

Who has Tennessee inside the top 10?

I show them as 5th in the conference and 11th overall.
If you include the new kids on the block, then Tennessee is 7th in the conference.

UGAs 2018 class was #1 in the country (edit to add: and won a national championship as seniors)

For perspective, LSUs best class was 2016 at #2 and won the national championship as seniors.
