Jimbo doesn’t recruit for A&M.
A&M’s money recruits for A&M. They have facilities that make NFL teams jealous. They pay their coaches insane amounts of cash and can put any amount of coaching talent together they want to buy.
That doesn’t mean they will win. But that also means that Jimmy really hasn’t done ANYTHING that his replacement wouldn’t also do.
And that includes recruiting. Whoever comes into A&M will recruit just like Dumbo. Because it’s A&M that recruits A&M.
The coach just makes the right phone calls. The real question is who can A&M get that will win games.
Personally, I think there’s a few coaches that are out there that could take A&Ms resources and make A&M win ten or more games each season.
The wrong coach can perpetuate more of the same. We shall see.

I didn’t say it was simple. I said we would continue to recruit well. And I said a good coach would get us ten wins and marginal one would make it continue as it is.

A&M doesn’t have a coaching problem. They have a Leadership problem.
Until A&M figures out how to remove the outsized influence of the BMDs and political forces truly controlling the athletic department they will continue the idiotic decisions.
