I feel for you guys. I really do. The helmets don't matter but they should not do this at this time IMO.

Those look like they could take a punch from a middle aged white man.

Well they should, they're designed to sustain an impact by an ASTM standard 3.5 kilogram fired phyllosilicate mineral brick being propelled at 30 meters per second without causing concussive damage to the brain.

Weren't those Nike Pro Combat? If so, then at least some of the blame goes to Nike. They were pretty damn bad, though.

Fwiw, I hate this smokey grey bullshite. Tennessee's white helmets are iconic and have went unchanged for 60 years. Ballsy move by Butch to pull these out when half of Knoxville is ready to run him out of town.

Serious question to Vols. Will the stadium be full for this one? Based on the Vol fans attitude on here this week it seems like nobody is gonna show up. UT/UGA is still a big game.

Yeah they were. Probably the worst helmets I've ever seen in my life.

Every picture I have seen of these have been one piece at a time. ill wait till tomorrow on TV before I cast judgment.

from a merchandising standpoint, I think it is kind of smart that they try to incorporate grey as a color scheme.

Bama has made a few million with the Houndstooth pattern. something that I have grown to almost hate. Mostly when it is done obnoxiously.

I guess they decided to look as bad as they play.

I won't complain about the black jerseys because they were a one off surprise -- they warmed up in orange, it was Halloween etc. -- plus the fans were so loud afterwards, it carried over to an arse kicking.

But doesn't that only work because of the whole Bryant connection? It seems like TN is trying to make gray happen and it isn't catching on...so the answer is two tones of gray.

Tennessee has been one gimmick from a big win this season. This could be what they need to finally hold a lead.

Even as someone who hates UT, I've always respected their status as a traditional powerhouse. This stunt along with the Halloween/black jersey stunt they pulled a few years ago only bastardizes them further.

The classy "traditional power" aura faded into oblivion when Lil John and his goblet became the national spokesman for the program.

FYP

I think it's so stupid to wear these this week. They look alright, but dammit were all tired of getting set up with these gimmicks, losing, and then being the laughingstock of cfb. JUST WIN A GAME

It's Bama vs. UGA with the black jerseys all over again.
