When comparing W's and L's among teams, strength of schedule should be EVERYTHING.

The "new" concept of only caring about what was done on the field is refreshing.
That said, they slightly missed it this week.
Given the "eye test" I would put Bama ahead of Florida. However, given "on the field" you'd have to put Florida above. It's like they mixed a little of eye test and on the field performance this week. Only what's been done on the field should matter.

Love how all the Bama fans are justifying this shite when they were just as shocked by it as everyone else. They were not expecting to be in the top four because they knew their team didn't deserve it. The hope was to beat LSU and then make a jump. Either way, that shite is not happening this year. Bama will lose to LSU. When that happens they probably won't fall out of the top 10. But that's cool. Can't wait until they get beat by Memphis in the Chicken Bowl.

Well after that non deserving 2011 Alabama team made the championship, people HAD to have something other than the BCS.
Yeah well the committee portiok of the BCS is what failed in that scenario. The polls were the problem in manipulating the results. The conputers had Oklahoma St. easily in unless people started ranking them like 3 spots below Alabama. That was the most rediculous manipulatiok of the system in the BCS era imo.

I vehemently disagree with the idea that Alabama has proven themselves better than all but 3 teams in the country.
With whom are you disagreeing? Because no one asserted this. Ranking them fourth does not constitute proof. None of this can be proven.

If the committee truly gives weight to what the team was ranked when you played them, they should blow the whole comittee up. That is the dumbest thing I have heard

I just hope it doesn't get to be like the basketball selection committee and start getting all PC. They don't need to start feeling sorry for certain conferences or start trying to "balance" things out regionally or give extra credit to small schools to "give them a shot."

The problem is the games that are played on the field should carry more weight. Bama's toughest game of the year at home ended as a lose. They should be punished for that. If we are going to go by the eye test then lets just not play the games. Just chalk it the whole season. Its proven time and time again humans cant be objective when ranking teams. Facts are if Florida and Bama switched resumes than Bama would still be at 4. There is a clear bias. It really doesn't bother me but I'd like them to at least be honest about it.

I get that I'm just failing to understand how Ohio state is 3

Still doesn't explain Bama's ranking or Florida's. At this point in the season it doesn't really matter, but it makes people question the decision-making of this committee and, IMO, rightfully so.
Sure it does. Bama beat 2 previously undefeated top 10 teams. UF has not. Doesn't matter that you played the same UGA (without Chubb of course) because UGA was unranked when you played.
But for all the teeth nashing and bitching I think UF gets in if they win out and it may be over Bama if Bama doesn't get in SECCG. But, not because you beat UGA . It's because you beat FSU and OM again (OM will have to be ranked higher because the won out.) AND won a Conference Championship. I think the Committee is weighting CC's more than a regular game against a quality opponent. More than they should in my opinion.

a 2 loss SEC West team beats out a 1 loss Ohio State or Notre Dame for the fourth playoff spot.
And that could happen. LSU beat OSU in 2008 and LSU had 2 losses. Neither team belonged in that game. But that was the BCS and it was not nearly as good as the committee. When it's all said and done, I think Michigan State beats Ohio State and wins the B1G title. LSU/Florida/Bama winner will get the SEC bid. Oklahoma/OK St/Baylor/TCU winner gets the Big 12 bid and Clemson/FSU for the ACC. Pac 12 cannibalized one another too much this year.

You should apply at ESPN to be an analyst. You REALLY broke it down there, champ.

If ND beats Pitt and Stanford they will get a spot for sure.

I think the playoff committee will pick the 4 teams they think are the best. Then the 1 seed will play the 4 seed and the 2 seed will play the 3 seed.
The winners of those 2 games will play each other imo.

Go on...
At this point I wouldn't be surprised to see Bama get a friggin bye in the Semifinals.

We've all seen what football "committees" can predict and pick.
Um, prior to the season, the "knowing" SEC media went with Auburn for the win.
I rest my case.

I think what people are failing to realize is that the top 16 or so teams are all really close at this point in part because the data points are FAR from complete. The committee said as much. People are splitting hairs and so is the committee because for some reason they feel the need to start the playoff ranking earlier than they should and people need to relax - as more data comes in it will be easier to distinguish between teams. They will move teams around a lot and there probably isn't much difference in being ranked #1 and being ranked #15 at this point.
