and on top of that, the wrecking crew STUFFED bo at the cotton bowl that year LINK
Already discussed. Link already provided.
Also already noted Bo did have over 200 yards against the wrecking crew that day.
Sorta a testament to Bo's greatness that people brag about holding Bo to just over 200 yards in a game 27 years after it happened.

Sure it does. There is no official national champ in college football. We have polling services.
And in 1983, Auburn was the consensus national champion of the polling services.
Not to mention Auburn was deserving and Miami's claim is pretty much a joke.
Top 5 in 1983:
1. Auburn
2. Georgia
3. Texas
4. Florida
5. Miami
6. Nebraska
Miami would lose by double digits to #1-4.

They didn't win one of the 2 major polls,, so they didn't win the 'ship. Pretty simple.

NCAA does not recognize football champions, they only some of the polls.

So bama really doesn't have but 8 or 9 NCs?
It is a fact Auburn was the consensus national champion of the polls in 1983.
Pretty simple. DWI.

In the poll era, yes. The most of any school.

So this is a qualifier of a nc?

I think bama should only claim consensus NCs.
Maybe 7 of those? Not the most of any school?

Yes. It is a simple fact Auburn was the consensus NC in 1983.
Get over it and deal with it.

Question: How are national champs decided in college football since the NCAA does not recognize them?
Answer: Polling services
Question: Who did the majority of the polls select in 1983?
Answer: Auburn
