Agreed, but I think AJ would have a better chance if this were the true criteria:
"The Heisman Memorial Trophy annually recognizes the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity. Winners epitomize great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work."
Notwithstanding the spirit of the award, most voters look for the most impressive player in terms of the stats, team's winning percentage and individual performance in big games. I'd also argue that some voters get swayed by a good back story if there is one. And of course, the regional bias.
We are deep in the throes of Bama and SEC fatigue. AJ is rarely called upon to carry the team on his back with the level of talent around him. In that regard, his stats suffer in comparison to teams that are built around the performances of their QBs/WRs. He won't get the credit he deserves - and I don't mean to imply he necessarily deserves Heisman, but there are just too many intangibles against him as it stands today. Yet, there is still a lot that can happen in his favor before the vote.

Just remember that whoever wins it.....their NFL career will probably be a flop.
If Bama wins out then I could see AJ winning it for a combination of the 3 peat vs just this one year.

Just saw a post comparing Johnny's Heisman year stats to this year's:

Yds 2594
Comp % 73.0
TD % 8.7
Int % 3.2
YPA 10.3
Rush 89-497 = 5.6 YPA, 6 TDs
Total offense = 9.1 YPP
2012
Att 269
Comp 173
Yds 2216
Comp % 64.3
TD % 5.9
Int % 2.2
YPA 8.2
Rush 117-793 = 6.8 YPA, 13 TDs
Total offense = 7.8 YPP

If the season ended today that's how I see it, too. Winston is having a remarkable year.

Yes, I can see that as a possibility. But then everyone who is not a Bama fan will call BS and say what a worthless award it is and how he didn't deserve it, blah blah, , second worst Heisman winner after Ingram.

Johnny Manziel is the best player in the country. And, I do like Winston's game. Manziel is better than his Heisman year. I hope the odd disliking of him does not skew voters away from him. He's a great kid and is earning the trophy - again.

Old curmudgeon doing the old curmudgeon thing... Last year he only had multiple INTs in two games - LSU and Ole Miss. Not coincidentally A&M lost to LSU, and Ole Miss was a barn burner that really should not have been. This year he has 2 multiple INT games, and guess what? Yeah, I know you know. The thing is, without 1 of those 2 INTs in both games A&M is likely undefeated right now, even with an historically bad defense.
Clearly he needs to come back next year to get this worked out! Crossing fingers.
In any case it's really hard for me to vote for anybody other than Winston at this point - not that I get a vote. But I'd love for AJ to win it.

Yeah I saw that.
Didn't realize he was ahead of the pace.
Remarkable.

Manziel will win again which means the SEC wins again.

AJ isn't even the best player on our team.

Mr. Tyler Russell all the way

AJ will not win Jack, much as I'd like to see it. It's all about statistics as you know. He does not have the gaudy numbers others do. That said, you'll not convince me that he is not just as valuable to his team as ANY of the others being considered are to theirs. All he does is win. Take him away and we are not undefeated and in the position we are to play for 3 straight even though he is not the best player on our team.

If Johnny breaks the all time SEC record for yards again and he doesn't get it - its a crime. Hell its already a crime if he doesn't get it.

I think Mike Evans is the most dominant player at any position in cfb. Dude is unguardable.

McCarron and Manziel are the SEC's last best hopes. That being said...I believe Mariotta or Winston will win the Heisman.
Holy shite. One of the players you mentioned is NOT like the others.
