Can it cut through a phone book in one swoop?

Are you laying the groundwork for this... I talked with undecided an I nominated myself for one of the vote tellers.. We talked preseason polls vaguely. I recommended the first poll be write in only for the top 25 to lay the foundation on the first poll then simplify it from thay point.. I found a site to do the write in poll the voters would have to go to that site and vote then select other vote tellers could tally them.. You mentioned point structure that is needed how does the ap/coaches do theres?

Posted this in my initial thread and am posting here also for feedback:
This is what I'm thinking:
Since we were rejected by the MSB, we could do a Top 25 open to the entire SECr
We could do SEC Conference reanking by the SEC Rant Selection Committee which is determined through a nomination thread by each fan base
The Selection Committe would also be responsible for the Heisman Vote
All three polls would be released on Sunday along with the AP & Coaches.
Tabulations could be done using the Polling system created by Ms. Garrison

Point structure
The preseason poll most likely operates like the polls in NCAA football or baseball. It basically awards points on a 1 to 25 scale that is inversely proportional to the spot where the team is ranked. For example, if a team is ranked #1 on someones ballot, they receive 25 points. If a team is ranked #25 on someones ballot, they receive 1 point. According to the preseason poll, there are 40 first place votes calculated, which means that 40 coaches vote in the poll. Each coach assembles their ballots and then a particular team is awarded points based on where they sit in each of the 40 ballots.
Ranking = Points
#1=25 pts
#2=24 pts
#3=23 pts
#4=22 pts
#5=21 pts
#6=20 pts
#7=19 pts
#8=18 pts
#9=17 pts
#10=16 pts
#11=15 pts
#12=14 pts
#13=13 pts
#14=12 pts
#15=11 pts
#16=10 pts
#17=9 pts
#18=8 pts
#19=7 pts
#20=6 pts
#21=5 pts
#22=4 pts
#23=3 pts
#24=2 pts
#25=1 pts
Here is a small example:
Lets say that there are only 3 voters casting their ballots. One voter puts the University of Florida at #4, another puts them at #1, and another puts them at #2. The University of Florida would receive 22 points for the first ballot, 25 points for the second ballot, and 24 points for the third, giving them a total of 71 points. The same 3 voters put the University of Alabama at #2, #5, and #1. That would give Alabama 24 points, 21 points, and 25 points, for a total of 70 points. That would rank Florida ahead of Alabama by 1 point.

I was just going to tabulate manually week by week. Each participant posts their top 25 under the OP. I have no idea how many will participate so not sure if this will become too much.

Are you laying the groundwork for this..
The RESERVED area under OP is where I am posting possibilities, so yes, but of course taking into consideration everyone's input.

Link? Not quite sure how that works.

You mentioned point structure that is needed how does the ap/coaches do theirs?
The aforementioned point system I was speaking of was referring to a participants accuracy, a way of determining who is the most accurate. I'll try to workout a complete example of this and post in OP or RESERVED area later.

Okay, just saw your example, that would work fine.

Okay, I'll have to think through what exactly all this means. I'll work out an example of what specifically I'm thinking and will post later. Perhaps ya'll could do the same to help me have a clearer picture of your idea.

Instead of cluttering up a thread where you would have to dig I found a free website voters could use.. They would write in their votes then tellers would be able to tabulate them.. You could set times where the polls would open and then close.

This is just a link I would fine tune everything before

Oh yeah, I see what you are saying. Participants can vote on this site. And representatives could tabulate and post summary (hopefully in a stickied OP). Yes, I see what you are saying. Perhaps for a couple of days we can keep this thread for ideas on format, what to vote on and so forth. Come to an agreement of exactly what we want to do, then finetune link. How does that sound?

Yea.. I think the usa today poll comes out soon.. So might wanna try to beat it to see how this board opinions stack up against the coaches..

Also we could keep track of individual accuracy and also fanbase accuracy (Example: 11 Hog posters totaled 1111 points for average of 100. 15 UA posters totaled 1200 points for an average of 80, etc.) So then, individual competition and also team competition.

The AP poll comes out around the 18th I believe. Would you like to use this one till BCS poll is done (in 8th or 9th week I think)?
