Truth hurts.
I think we are getting ready to start another long steak of beating the cocks like we always have. I hope they enjoyed 92, 05, 08, and the three Dooley years. They won't be beating Tennessee for a long time and it's really not even that exciting, because after all, it's still only South Carolina.

Wait until the referees change their minds about you winning the game twice in one season.
Sit through every home game during a 1-21 stretch and then tell me what numb is.

No. You did the same thing Mizzou and Kentucky did. Grats?

That's like Northwestern fans being upset though. Most of what they know is suck. It becomes the very standard by which they are judged. When I grew up Tennessee was pissing excellence. Now it's just pissing in the wind. The bigger they are, the harder they fall.

This thread is 180 from the game thread. The game thread was cordial.

Well where are now is pretty much the average of what South Carolina used to be. It's just our worst year under Spurrier, and it's infuriating because our offense is actually pretty good.

This is textbook numbness. I'm sorry, isn't that what we were talking about? You seemed to have changed it to crushed or upset.

Yeah, this was us in 2012, only worse. Sal Sunseri thinks your defense plays a little too aggressively.

I guess that's accurate. Numb you are.

We've never been 4-5 under Spurrier until this year.

This is actually a a great season for USC historically. Their fanbase should be fired up to still be on the road to the Liberty Bowl.

probably more than losing to one, though
True, but We crossed that bridge against Mizzou and KY. Probably another reason people didn't care to go to the game. Also, when we went up 42-28, pretty much everyone knew TN had a strong chance of coming back. I suspect fear of the inevitable TN comeback was probably another reason people weren't too excited about scoring. Until the D can stop anyone, you can't really get too excited about scoring.

The stadium was actually a lot fuller than I thought it would be considering the weather and our season. Even before halftime though, people were pouring out. I guess they just couldn't stand any more of the cold.

It's tough when you know your team is not good/ playing badly to keep people in the stands...throw in some bad weather and poof they leave. It happened to us in 2012.
I think the expectations SC fans had about their team factor into it. We're doing a good job of filling up Neyland despite our circumstances but we also went into this season knowing that the main goal was 6-6, that the first part of the schedule was going to rough (it was), but that we needed to hold on and support our team through it. We knew how young, lacking in depth, as well as how bad our OL situation was going to be due to the last guy not recruiting any linemen and leaving us in a scenario where we replacing both the OL and DL completely and having to do it with a lack of warm bodies, so we watched to see if our team improved even if they didn't win and to see if they would fight all 4 quarters - they passed those tests with flying colors so fans kept faith.
With SC, and probably Auburn in 2012, the expectations were much higher and so it's looked like a down trend for the season filled with nothing but disappointment.

Then one of the two teams won and the butt hurt commenced.

Except it's not about the game at all, is it?

Lol did it seriously snow there. What the frick
Yep. SC got a decent dusting and parts of E. TN got over a foot. The snow in E. TN actually shut down I-40 at the TN/NC border which prevented a lot of UT fans from making the game. It was fricked up. That's not normal weather for either state this time of year.
