Alabama finished with a 3-5 SEC record in 2000 despite a #3 preseason ranking. Vandy finished 1-7 in the SEC and Kentucky was 0-8.
But an awful season nonetheless. However, it resulted in Dennis Feanchione which resulted in the Mike’s which resulted in Nick Saban, so in the grand scheme of things, I would not trade that season for better results.

2022 Ole Miss Baseball. Preseason #1. Then plummeted to the bottom by starting 7-14 in SEC play. Barely squeaked into the tournament and went on a tear winning 10 out of 11 games to win the CWS and remind everybody why they were the #1 team to begin with.
