Harvin and Rainey fought at practice?

There are Internet reports that Percy Harvin, still trying to come back from heel surgery in the spring, got into an argument with back Chris Rainey and the two came to blows at practice earlier this week. Practice was closed late in the week to the media and fans. Harvin has not granted interviews to the media so far this preseason, missing media day on Friday. UF usually doesn't allow players who don't practice to do interviews after workouts. Harvin hasn't gone full-speed so far this fall.

That wouldn't be good for Florida they've already had enough problems with injuries they don't need to be fighting each other. Especially not someone like harvin who you would hope would be a team leader

If true, anyone else beginning to feel like the Gator rope is fraying at one end already?

I reluctantly say I hope so. More than Harvin, Chris Rainey scares the shite out of me.

Why?

Why? Harvin is a proven asset. He made a ton of huge plays last year. Rainey is unproven.

Some Auburn guys here last week said that's just another way of 'team-building' and its just a way to bond.

wasm't rainey a problem before he even got to Florida. DIdn't he have some pictures on the internet or something of him holding cash. I forgot the story though.
edit - found it. he claimed to have received bags of cash and free merchandise from boosters during his recruitment.

is it good that a already hurt player is now mixing up blows with his teammates?
If I was uf id be more worried that harvin is trying to scrap with people when he isn't even a 100 percent yet then the fact he and rainey got in it.

I dunno,
guys fight at fall practices a lot. When there are 100 guys sweating in 2 a days, there are going to be problems, whether documented or otherwise. I remember VY got in a fight at Titans camp last year and then 2 weeks later nothing else was said about it. Just part of the summer workouts I think

i dont think the fight is that big of deal just the fact a guy coming off being hurt and still not recovered would make it a problem.

fwiw, got a call from an avid Gator fan this morning, he said the word is things are unraveling at this point. too many egos that aren't being kept in check.

Love the sounds of that. Florida's got too much talent to ever fall flat on their face ... as proven in the Zook era (even though it was a rough patch, they never actually SUCKED under Zook, they just weren't an elite level team anymore). I believe Florida will gradually decline under Meyer as he seems to burn a lot of bridges, and it doesn't take him long to do so. Eventually that'll catch up to them and cause some internal rifts.
He's the polar opposite of Miles. Everyone thinks Miles is a great guy but an idiot. Everyone thinks Meyer is a jerk that will do anything to win but a genious.
He certainly wasn't a genious in not using those timeouts in 2007 against LSU when LSU had the ball inside the five about to tie or take the lead. Florida could have won that game if he had used them and given his team more time to drive down the field. Ignorant clock management lost that game for Florida.

I can't believe the Chicken Littles on this board. Case in point is Phat Phil being served at SEC Media Days which was supposed to ignite a national media storm. Maybe I missed it.
Mix in a little testosterone with some hot weather, and you're gonna have guys wanting to take a swing at each other. Big whoop. Hard to see "unraveling."

So the most dynamic player in the sec doesnt scare you but a player who hasnt played a down yet does?

They were fighting over Erin Andrews!

i agree, no big deal. just thought it was funny that some of their fans are getting nervous.

Even if this fight happened, I wouldn't care. What I find sad is that newspapers are being reduced to printing message board rumors.

i dont think its a big deal just not that smart when a guy is still coming back to do that. say he gets hurt again while scraping with rainey.
nothing wrong with a good fight at practice
