I missed the butthurt and trolling discussion. Was your post one or the other?
Besides, the evidence from Yelp suggests that many LSU fans did care as opposed to few caring.
Anyway, it doesn't matter. When I'm in the panhandle, I avoid the tourist traps. I don't care if you guys run this place out of business or not.

Harry's seems to be doing the right thing even after having their staff attacked by LSU fans.
Good job Harry T!

LSU and AOL.
A winning combination!

I noticed that. Chief Deputy Hancock County Sheriff's Office.
That explains why one of my fraternity brothers who had a home in Diamondhead until Katrina destroyed it knows him so well.
Always pays to be on good terms with local law enforcement.

Despite the trolling of a few corndogs here, I know first hand that most of the bars and restaurants in midtown and downtown Gainesville actually like LSU weekend because Tigers tend to spend a lot of money. In fact they remain one of the favorite teams to have come to town for that reason. I also know who is generally the worst, but I shan't troll myself.
And plenty of A&M fans met Gators in 2012. I had a fantastic time watching a game at Kyle Field and found the Aggies to be a very welcoming fan base, even after they lost. I don't remember any ruckus at all.

For sure, we drop a lot of money at the bars when we travel.
But that's not the same as alumni groups hosting watch parties out of town.
I organized alumni watch parties here in Portland for several years and understand the dynamics at play with multiple alumni groups in the same bar competing for space. When LSU and Ohio State played for the natty, the bar we watched at was a huge Ohio State bar so I requested they give our LSU group the upstairs. Meanwhile, the Buckeye alumni group (like 200 strong) took over the entire downstairs. We kept the two groups separated on purpose. More so we'd have enough seats for our group than because of any fear of violence or anything.
I don't blame the Florida group for wanting to keep their area reserved. It's very common practice. The blame is with the management at Harry T's for handling the situation poorly. To their credit, they are trying to make it right and give lots of money to alumni group scholarship funds.
It's a lot of work to get alumni (and sidewalkers) to come out to the bar. That's why I don't do it anymore. We've got a fickle group of LSU alumni up here.

They seem to be doing all the right things on social media and with the event this weekend. Yet they are still getting hammered by some LSU fans on social media. It is a mob mentality. I don't know what else some fans want. They have extended an olive branch. Accept it or don't. But quit bashing the place for a mistake they admitted they made and have apologized for. I would attend this weekend if I were in Destin.

Agreed.

more LSU fans need to take to social media in support. it's just the negative ones posting all over their Facebook page.

That's the funny thing about coonasses: you do right by them, and you have a friend for life. frick them over even once, and you have an enemy until the day they die.

The problem is they half way admit fricking up and then try to drop an excuse. If they would just say sorry we fricked, sorry we fricked up again with trying to defend the actions most people would stop.

Please ban the joint. Please just stay away from Destin period. Used to be an amazing place.
