He's a more likeable Butch Jones.
Every TV announcer ever says "Boy, Coach Beamer really has this program going in the right direction," just like it was for Butch Jones.

Tennessee has too much history for those empty platitudes, and they get made fun of all the harder for it. South Carolina doesn't have much success outside of Spurrier, so he gets a longer leash.
