Could have sworn the BCSNCG dates back to last century. I'm old and my mind isn't what it used to be. Pretty sure about this though.

The BCS started in 98 but there wasn't a separate BCS title game until the 06 season.

99 Sugar

I know grasshopper. Vols have vanished from the national scene since. Really hope Heupel keeps them headed in the right direction.

LSU played in and won the BCS title in January of '04 in the NO superdome. I was there. Explain your meaning of separate title game? What's different from '06 as opposed to all the BCSNCGs that preceded it?

Let me guess '06 season was the first year you started following college football?

Championship was rotated between the bowls

2006 on they played all the bowl games but had an added BCS Championship game at one of the bowl sites a week later

This is from memory

I had an LSU baseball cap - a lady handling a cucumber in the produce section of the supermarket said "go tigers". Well, maybe I'm embellishing the story somewhat - she was actually in the metamucil section, but she was pretty hot for her age:

I will only cite LSU's BCS championship runs. In '03 after winning the SECCG the next game the tigers played was the BCSCG in the superdome. In '07 after winning the SECCG the tigers next game was the BCSNC game in the dome. In '11 after winning the SECCG LSU next played in the BCSNCG in the dome. Notice the trend. Next game after winning the SECCG was in the BCSNCG. There was no other playin game.

In '06 after winning the SECCG did the gators play a game between that game and the BCSNCG?

Almost forgot. The BCSNCG was ALWAYS rotated among existing bowl games.

From 98-05 there were only 4 BCS bowls. Each year One was the championship game and rotated. The 2004 sugar bowl was the NCG. In 2006 they started the plus 1 model. They had the four bowls every year and then each bowl rotated and hosted the national championship as a totally separate game a week later. That’s why I. 2004 LSU played in the sugar bowl but in 2008 played in the BCSNCG and someone else played in the “sugar bowl” that year.

In what year was the FIRST BCSNC trophy awarded? I'll hang up and listen.

Just because they added an extra payday to a few bowl games doesn't change the fact that the BCS system went into effect for the '98 season. It's not like they made whoever played for the title play an extra game. That would be a playoff system.

There is no BCSNC trophy. They awarded the coaches trophy and the AP trophy by contract. In 1998 the winner of the 1999 rose bowl game was awarded them. In 2003 the AP and BCS split over the USC/LSU debacle.

I saw LSU hoist a national championship trophy (crystal football) after beating ou in the BCSNCG. That was january of '04. That's the same trophy the gators were awarded after beating tOSU.

If you do a BCSNC search there is no distinction between '98-'05 and '06-'13 as to the BCSNCG being decided in a different way. The only difference is the host city/bowl of the title game in the later years had a double payday.

Dang
I tried to explain

You are confused

The 2003 LSU team won the Sugar Bowl which served as the BCS Championship game

In the 2007 LSU championship year, the Sugar Bowl was played by 2 different teams, neither LSU or Ohio St

LSU played Ohio St in the BCS National Championship game which was played at the Superdome a week after the Sugar Bowl was played

I don’t give a crap where you were either time, YOU are confused as to how the BCS changed. The 2 teams that played in the championship did not have a “play in” extra game

Dam son. Look it up. Read with comprehension.
