Which means he didn't lie to the NCAA (see the Dez Bryant case).
Whether he lied to them or not doesn't really matter, he committed an NCAA violation. Like I said, I doubt much comes of it, but he still is on the hook for the violation.

You know its true.
Auburn would not have reported it , you know this is true and that bothers you because your team has no ethics.
Nor does Texas AM who lawyered up.
If every program was as dutiful to ethics as Bama there would be zero tolerance for cheating.

You have to pay the rent somehow, and I understand that, but it is still not allowed be the NCAA. Good intentions or not, still a violation.
Not arguing that at all and I agree. Just trying to understand why he needed a loan.

it doesn't matter if his mom was dying of cancer and needed $500 to extend her life another month. cheating is cheating.
Should have gone with a church donation.

Could it have been that HaHa was short on money because he was waiting for his student loan money, thus why he had to borrow money?
Still a violation any way you shake it.
Questions you should be asking are:
How was he able to repay a short term loan of $500?
If you dont have to pay for meals or housing it is really hard to spend $500 in short term. Why did he need so much?

So, you say something stupid, get corrected and then make something up to deflect. Awesome.
I responded early on in the thread what I thought would happen.
Nothing stupid was said. If Ha-Ha says he paid it back and has the bank statement showing the exact amount in question withdrawn, what more can he provide besides his word. He most likely didn't provide any receipt when he accepted the cash and probably didn't ask for one when he repaid it. NCAA will most likely take him at his word. If this is a larger institutional problem that the whole athletic department is in on, AD Bill Battle will hire Lightfoot, Franklin and White to come in like they did on the Manziel & Cam cases and force them to make a quick ruling so he's back in time for the Tennessee game.

LOL at all the corn dogs and barners in this thread trying to convince themselves and each other they are NCAA experts or in any other way intimately familiar with the situation.
the NCAA isn't experts on their own rules, which is pretty evident by their historic lack of using precedent to make any of their rulings. but per the rules, dix is ineligible. now, whether or not they rule that way is another story

It does matter. The severity of the punishment has always been proportional to the cooperation that the institution and the individual athletes give.

1. what difference would that make?
2. very doubtful he took out student loans. and why would he? he's on a full scholarship, complete with money for living and food

I will tell you how it happens. We don't cover up anything , period. Others do , or cheat knowingly
Yeah Bama doesn't cheat huh?
The NCAA will likely be the next entity to get involved with the story. Alabama has a history of NCAA violations and at one time in the early 2000’s was said to be as close to the death penalty as any school had been since SMU.

Three game suspension, the coach fired, everyone moves on with their life.
