He was a literal psychopath lying to Arkansas admins about wanting the job after Bielema. He didn't do it for normal contract reasons. He did it all because he's a psycho.
Same thing about his antics the latter half of his last Auburn year.
Then he just scorched the earth on UCF and the AD who actually had gotten the job at Arkansas State years earlier after Malzahn got the other guy fired, and hired him at UCF.
Malzahn has stabbed more people in the back than Bill and Hillary Clinton.
now he gets the FSU job with nowhere to go but up - he's smart to take the right job at the right time, but he's also evil. He's a selfishly evil POS

Since you mentioned the term “program” I’m going to disagree.
Are we talking about the ability to have their AD and fanbase be able to fund a turnaround?
A good program can do that and I do think it’s relatively easy to say they are a top 100 program.

The Gus Bus and Hugh Freeze have a lot of similarities on offense. They took full advantage of what was the latest and greatest based on new rules of conduct. But that was then and this is now. Neither seems able to reinvent the offensive wheel or challenge defenses in variations of a scheme.

Gus (like Chip Kelly) is doing exactly what he wants to do. He wants to be a football coach and the modern day college head coach is everything but a football coach. This NIL and transfer portal has completely transformed the HC's job. It would be unrecognizable to coaches from other eras.
