Posting this is useful and appreciated.

It's also pathetic that it's necessary because tailgating in Gainesville is so shitty thanks to the GPD.

Honestly, I've only seen the cops mess with people that are being belligerent and/or look super arse young.

Other than that, the only time I've seen opposing fan being "targeted" was when they were the only one walking across the street with a beer not in a solo cup and/or were being belligerent.

Gainesville is a pain in the arse when it comes to 'drankin.' UT is becoming a PITA too though not as bad (they mostly like to harass UT students). Unfortunately/fortunately, GPD and KPD are combining forces this year (we're sending officers to help work the game/ease the workload on Florida's first responders so hopefully GPD won't target fans so hard .

Why does Florida have to be so terrible?

From the terrible fans, the terrible tailgating, the sad coach, why is Florida so terrible?

Serious question.

Also don't try to sneak small liquor bottles into the game if you're wearing opposing colors. Got kicked out several years ago.

I don't usually buy into the "every fanbase is terrible at an away game" shtick but almost everyone I know who has been to a Florida game has hated it and said they won't be back.

I wonder why its so bad?

This X 1000. They specifically pick on opposing fans so watch out.

Just don't be a dumbass and you'll be fine. I enjoyed my alcoholic beverages both outside and inside the stadium when I went to Gainesville.

This is the norm, most of the rest is exaggerated but if it keeps LSU fans from polluting Gainesville, please keep repeating the horror stories. Bottom line, show respect for the cops and you will not be bothered.

I really don't see why the cop's self esteem has anything to do with someone over the age of 16 having a beer where he damn well pleases on a football Saturday.

I think you may want to edit that map.

A buddy of ours was arrested for consuming alcohol right across from the entrance of Ben Hill Griffin on University Ave. He was doing NOTHING. He just had an open Miller Lite can. He wasn't even saying anything to anyone at the time (another buddy was inside one of the buildings taking a piss). It was early, too. Like noon.

We were outside one of the school buildings directly to the left of the Alumni building and these statues:

In my experience this is BS. If you are wearing colors of the opposing team you are likely going to be harassed by GPD. On our last trip to Gainesville, we were quietly sitting on the bed of a pickup truck drinking beer poured into plastic Solo cups. No music playing, only five of us talking. We were approached by GPD forced to empty our cups and told we would be written up if we did it again. Meanwhile, the tailgates right by us were not bothered at all. Of course they were not wearing purple and/or gold.

Alumni hall, that's photoed here, is across University from the Stadium and is in the red zone of the map...

Although it's considered "campus" there, I still put it in the red because I know it's not safe to have an open container there.
