Let’s win out first then we can discuss.
If the SEC wins out their bowl schedule we could end up with 6 wins over teams ranked in the top 10 in the final polls.
But let’s just win out.

1971 or 1995 Nebraska Cornhuskers. Hard to argue against either. The '71 team beat higher ranked teams, but the '95 team destroyed everyone they played.

I'll just pick an Alabama unit, not even their best one.
Let's go with the '92 Crimson Tide.
I would say that Alabama's running attack that season would easily put up a thousand yards on the ground against this season's lsu.
There was no such thing as a non-existent defense back in those days and even the very worst of teams had better defenses than lsu's current defense.
And, considering Burro would be on his back before he could throw the ball, I'm not sure how he would get his completion percentage that he has enjoyed this season.
If he did manage to have enough time to let go of the ball, it would just have been intercepted.
Bama 77
lsu 3

You know, to be honest, this LSU team is truly a great team thus far, but there have been some really great teams in the past that you could make a case far as well. Nebraska had some powerful teams, as did Florida, and of course Bama, and hell, if you want to go back far enough, you could make cases for Notre Dame, and then there’s USC. I’d say it’s all relative to the time period and what you consider a great team.
All that being said, if LSU wins out, and especially in commanding fashion, then I will believe it’s time to call them one of the greatest of all time, due in no small part to the body of work and competition they did it against, as well as the offensive numbers they put up in the process. I’d like to reserve my final judgement on this team however until after the games have been played.
Regardless, it’s been a truly amazing season for LSU this year, especially when you consider where we were last year or worse still, the year before at this time.

That stretch of Texsas, aTm, Tulane, LSU and Ole Miss over a 5 day period is freaking crazy. The fact that they outscored them 91-0 is pretty mind-blowing.
What is crazy, is that they traveled by train. They had to all but live on that train. Getting off at various stops to kick another team's arse, and then back on the train.

Last year’s Clemson team. The defense is the difference. We played some of our toughest opponents when they were in a weakened state. We have avoided major injury issues this year.

Best offense of all time? Yes.

This is easy.
1961 Alabama. Undefeated. Outscored opponents 297 to 25. That’s correct...the defense gave up 25 points TOTAL.
1992 Alabama. Undefeated. Destroyed and dismantled the highly favored dynasty of the day Miami and their Heisman Trophy-winning QB 34-13 to win a national championship.
2012 Alabama......

No. This team is great, but we haven’t won anything yet. There are two other undefeated teams in the playoffs who are very good also.
In my opinion, ‘95 Nebraska is the greatest.

Yep, I remember that team, being in the same conference as them. It was a potent, well oiled machine.
