I don't think there's a better, more fun, more stirring pregame band entrance in the SEC than the Auburn University Marching Band's (LINK).

I've always liked that UGA defensive cheer where the flutes play like 50 notes before the rest of the band joins in.

Meh, PSU played a lot of party music during the Bama game. Their band was very nice though.

Ya I noticed that as well. They are the exception. I've been to games At UM, MSU, OSU, Purdue, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Northwestern, and didn't hear any music other than the band.

Young man, I was in the band back in the days of dinosaurs and pterodactyls. I thought the band I was in, directed by Dr. Walls (RIP), was pretty danged good.

Today's AU Marching Band? At another exponential level. NO comparison.

Ya'll are doing it right. And if ya'll ain't the best in the SEC, you go no lower than second.

Every year, I usually sat 12th to 15th out of about 80 trumpets (depending on the year).

This seems to be a universal constant.

Bama and most other SEC games were like this too up until about the last decade. You very rarely heard any piped in music at all. The crowd didn't need the music as an extra boost to get loud. That's a recent trend in many SEC stadiums that is fairly new.

My favorite is Alabama's band. I actually like their Rammer Jammer at the end of wins.

My SEC experience started in 04, so that's all I know of SEC stadiums. Its a shame. Piped in music has no place in CFB. If you want to hear Dixieland Delight every game, teach the band to play it.

I marched LSU and my baby bro marched Auburn, so I am partial to both. I had a ton of friends in the Auburn band. They used to call us the "Flipfolder Band from Tigerland," because we used music on the field. Then I explained that we played different halftime shows for every home game. They only played two a year, so that shut 'em up real quick.
The musicianship and competition in LSU's band was unparalleled when I was in school. I suspect that's why LSU's 110 can hang with the 380s on TV, soundwise. There's great band tradition throughout the SEC, though. And, if you get a chance to go see the wind ensembles at these schools, I urge you to do it. There are some really talented kids down here.

the circle drill is the best halftime show in the SEC imho, even though that's the only show the UT band plays when they come to BDS.

I agree when they actually do it. They haven't done it at a home game this year.

Not a band "cheer" but a cool song that Alabama's band has added to the pre-game show is "Tusk" from Fleetwood Mac. Sounds really good.

sounds like something a big10 school band would play.

I wanna see SEC mimick the bands of the Historically Black University bands. They "get wit it".

Got me to stadiums all across the South, the Tangerine (later Citrus) Bowl, the Sugar Bowl, and the Liberty Bowl all free of charge. Not only free of charge, but "per diem" (i.e. beer money for later) was paid.

When I was in high school, I was in a flip-folder band.

I "accidentally" dropped mine at the beginning of every show.
