You realize there are multiple 30 for 30s, documentaries, and even an HBO series and a netflix series about those rivalries and teams don’t you?

It seems a lot of people think it was best then and would rather watch shows about them than actually watch modern NBA ball.

LMAO. I had a Larry Bird poster on my wall growing up. You're out of your league here Bama boy. I've forgotten more about 80's basketball than you'll ever know.

Wallace was South Carolina’s first All-American and all-ACC designee, and the first Gamecock to lead the ACC in scoring and rebounding. His No. 42 jersey was the first retired by the program and only the second in any sport.

Moreover, he remains the only NCAA season-scoring champion to come out of the ACC’s original eight schools. In doing so, Wallace out-dueled two of the game’s most prolific legends in Kansas’ Wilt Chamberlain and Seattle’s Elgin Baylor for scoring supremacy.

We've got LSU fans trying to take Shaq down a level for what reason? What did he do other than dominate the league for a handful of years like no other from your school has done.

Take him down? No one is doing that. I said he was the most dominant LSU player ever. He was the most dominant because of his physical make up. But I witnessed in person every home game that Chris Jackson played. I personally believe that he was better, pound for pound, for his position. That's not taking anything away from Shaq. I'm certain you didn't watch the two of them like I and most LSU fans did.

You witnessed him playing at LSU. This isn't boxing. There are no weight classes. This is about primarily their NBA play. I think I've made that obvious. No one who follows pro basketball for a living would say Shaq was more dominant but Jackson was the better player. Jackson was better in college than in the pros. Shaq was quite good in college, but completely dominant in the pros.

All NBA selections, post season awards, regular season awards, defensive awards, he's the best NBA player to ever come out of the SEC. I'm on an LSU board and getting down voted and argued with for saying that. Sad.

Absolutely. I’m not saying he wasn’t great. He also has the highest percentage of dunks for FH in NBA history. He practically never shot the ball and he would not be the on those teams winning titles without Kobe or other players. Less than 1% of his points came from free throws. He was a rebounding machine because for years he was the only 7footer we’d truly seen in the game. It was like when we saw Yao Ming many years ago. It was crazy to see someone that tall.

Now every team has a 7ft er that can dunk. Michigan had two, Duke has one, and hell even UF has a 18 year old taller than them that sits on the bench. It’s normal.

You got Oklahoma wrong not once but twice! Blake Griffin and Tre Young are great basketball players but Wayman Tisdale was the best.

For Ole Miss, I'd rank Newman 3rd or 4th.

Two in front of him for sure are Gerald Glass and Carlos Clark. Carlos won a ring with the Celtics.

“Kobe never won without a HOF big man and the early Laker champs of this century are considered superior to Kobe's led teams. Again, the offense flowed through Shaq and that's why Kobe went to Jerry West and said it's him or me. His ego couldn't take playing second to Shaq. Kobe's selfishness cost them a title when they lost to Detroit. Refused to do what was best for the team.”

You know the famous Jay Leno quote
“If Kobe had a kidney stone, would he pass it?”

I give up.

(Not for this Sooner, but for those who don't know) Tisdale never was selected for an NBA All Star game. Never was on an all NBA team of any kind. Tisdale was a great college player and selected as the no. 2 player overall in the 1985 NBA draft. Patrick Ewing, future HOFer, was selected before him.

Three HOFers were selected behind him: Karl Malone, Chris Mullin and Joe Dumars.

Another who was on an All NBA team: Detlef Schrempf (also two time NBA sixth man of the year)

Others including Xavier McDaniel, AC Green and Terry Porter who made at least one All Star Game.

Wayman Tisdale was a decent NBA player. Not a complete bust. He averaged a very respectable 15 points and 6 rebounds per game over a 13 year career. No way he was better than Griffin or Young, who both made multiple All Star games and both selected to All NBA teams.

Was he better at OU? Maybe, but that's not what the post is about.

Wayman died due to the radiation treatment he was taking due to cancer. Toby Keith wrote a song about Wayman after he died. They were good friends. Then of course, cancer took Toby out a decade and a half later. It took a very important person to me last year. I hate cancer.

I had only looked at Neumann's NBA stats at first which is why I chose Glass. What you are saying is certainly arguable depending on how inferior you think the ABA was to the NBA at the time. From what I read, he didn't play team basketball in his first couple of years, though he was scoring a decent amount for a young player. Coaches didn't think he helped the team and he kind of was phased out as his career continued.

Well, you obviously never watched him play. Maybe just saw a few highlights on ESPN.

You can't win a scoring championship in the NBA, let alone 2, by just dunking. And he won those leaving a ton of points off the board at the FT line.

And he was the only 7 footer we had seen in the game? Tell me you didn't really follow the NBA without saying "I didn't follow the NBA".

Kareem was 7 foot 2 inches HOFer before Shaq
Robert Parish was 7 foot 1 inch HOFer before Shaq
Ralph Sampson was 7 foot 4 inches HOFer before Shaq
Arvydis Sabonis was 7 foot 3 inches HOFer before Shaq
David Robinson was a 7 foot HOFer before Shaq
Hakeem Olajuwon was a 7 foot HOFer before Shaq
Wilt Chamberlain was a 7 foot 1 HOFer before Shaq
Dirk Nowitzki played during Shaq's time and was 7 foot and a HOFer

There were also guys like Rik Smits who played during a Shaq's time. An all star for Indiana that stood 7 feet 4 inches

Make Eaton 7 foot 4, a shot blocker in the 80's for Utah that won Defensive Player of the Year.

And less than one percent of his points were FTs? Did you major in math at Bama?

The saddest part is that LSU fans not only won't stand up for their own guy, they probably agree with you....wrongly.

You'd also take Steve Kerr, John Paxson, Danny Ainge, Calvin Murphy, etc.

If you were down by three with 2 seconds left, you probably wouldn't want Shaq on the floor either. But that's a silly argument to make.

Everyone tried the hack a Shaq his three championship years with the Lakers. It did not work. They didn't get the opportunity at the end you dreamed up.

Anthony Davis won the Wooden Award was defensive player of the year, MVP of the final four and SEC player of the year. Has an NCAA championship, NBA championship and two Olympic Gold Medals.

He only played one season in college. Issel played freshmen year and three years varsity. He is the leading scorer in UK history.

Davis has more hardware. Issel never left his team to play with LeBrainless.

Darius Garland is great but he only played like 4 games at Vandy before getting hurt. Can't really count him.

I would say it would have to be Clyde Lee when you look at college & pro together.
