Some of y'all know that my son is now matriculating at Auburn University.

We are super happy for him and also pleased with the school.

My beef? The school is ALREADY calling and asking for donations. The boy just started as a freshman this past fall.

It's the school of bidniz; apparently they are adding a new building.

That's great, hope it winds up being an asset to the school.

But dayum - calling parents of current students for donations?

Really?

Sorry y'all are so poor.

NSD is approaching. That is an expensive time of year for us.

Don't worry. As soon as he graduates it will be HIM who gets the calls and letters, not you.

The poor students they have manning the phones are RELENTLESS. They will call every goddamn day until you answer and tell them to leave you alone. My biggest beef is my transaction with the university ended when I paid in full for my degree and received said degree. Why the frick do colleges rely so heavily on donations to be successful when they already milk every fricking penny when you’re on campus?

I’ll be the first to admit, that is really embarrassing that they are asking already.

There's no incentive for them to limit expenses, so they just spend and spend.

AU just completed a $1B campaign drive. The new President is big on pushing donations up. Get use to it. Why anyone has a landline today is beyond me (too bad I still have mine).

every school does it (makes calls and send letters for donations), but I have never heard of this type of call while the kid is still in school, much less just started

I'm not mad, just honestly surprised

My stepfather graduated from Auburn 68 years ago and they still call him for donations, even though he's now a vegetable in a nursing home.

Are they still constantly building shite? There was major construction happening all 4 years I attended. Stopping that bullshite would help with lowering cost.

South Carolina hit me up before my daughter’s first class.
Georgia Southern same.

Auburn calls me often, Bama too.

Schools are cruise ships with classes that raise money chronically.

Tell them your son is on the team & ask them where you can pick up the bag.

Your mascot licks its balls and chews on ice and hasn’t seen a national title since 1980
