Just think what LSU had those three years … Shaquille O’Neil, Stanley Roberts, and Chris Jackson on the same team for three years. Only Dale Brown could coach that team to a best finish of third in SEC twice.

Your whole post is wrong. Shaq, CJ and Stanley played 1 year together. LSU won the SEC Shaq’s sophomore year and was screwed out of an SEC championship on a horrible no call at the end of the last game at Arkansas. If Shaq goes in for a layup and is knocked to the ground, there’s a good chance there was enough contact to call a foul. That call pretty much sealed the deal for him going to the NBA. Refs were allowing him to get beat up.

Dam you LUSers must live in a deaf-dumb-blind bubble. I posted what I remembered which was only incorrect about the three being together three years instead of one. Everything else inckuding the season results was correct. Now repeat after me…

LSU didn’t “ win” the conference championship in 90-91. They tied for 2/3 with Miss State … who won the only game between the two… thus finishing ahead of them by most tie break scenarios. Both finished the season behind Kentucky.

LSU was AWARDED SEC co-Champ (not “champ…CO-champ) title because Kentucky was on probation and there was no tie break procedure in the SEC regular season. Congratulations LSU.

My original post was correct… LSU finished tied for third place in both 1990 and 1991. And Dale Brown was not a very good coach or person despite having some amazing talent. LSU players were MVP of the SEC four straight years during this time. Dam it…I saw some of those games.

But go ahead and sputter and call names and blame the refs again… blaming refs (or umps) seems to be a cottage industry in Baton Rouge.

And yet Dale had 2 Final Four, and 4 Elite Eight appearances in the NCAA tournament compared to Wimp's ZERO appearances past Sweet 16.

Only in your tiny LSU hating world did LSU not win a share of the 1990-1991 SEC basketball title. So I guess Kentucky was "co-champion" in football with Alabama in 1977? And except in your world LSU tied for second in 1990. Wrong again.

You don’t understand how ties work.

Every time I think of Sanderson I am reminded of the trouble he got in for allegedly slapping his secretary - this was around the same time Auburn was being penalized for the Eric Ramsey situation....

I recall seeing shirts that said "We may pay our players, but at least we don't beat our women"

I remember driving down to Auburn that fall for the '92 football game and seeing some Auburn cars with those bumper stickers.

Nancy Watts. Oddly enough, she married CM Newton in the early 00's after Newton's first wife,Evelyn passed away.

the year Chris Jackson, Shaq and Stanley Roberts played for LSU, I was in school in Tuscaloosa. I went to watch practice a day or two before the game. Wimp had Ala was shooting over brooms that one grad assistant would hold up in the lane.

Chris Jackson is the best player in LSU MBB history.

1.) Maravich
2.) Shaq
3.) Petit
4.) Macklin or Jackson in a close race.....

Wimp was great. I LOVED going to games starting with the CM Newton era thru Wimp. Bama could play with anybody. Beating Patrick Ewing and the Hoya's, beating St Johns and Chris Mullin, the kentucky team that won the title in 78, the UNC team that made the Final Four.

Basketball was fun

and he was right about Jackson. That fricker could flat go off.

My late dad said "It's a lot easier to replace a secretary than a good basketball coach".

That was then Athletic Director Bob Broadhead, and it was his own office.
