It didn't just start in college for most of them. These people were the class dorks in junior high and high school too, and were thus drawn to the misfit culture at a&m.

Adding on to this: not only did your University not suspend him for at least until the investigation was completed and he was "cleared", they actively started smearing the victim's reputation in the media and suggesting that she was to blame for her murder. And it was all lies. The University of Alabama destroyed a young mother's image and memory after her murder so they could win some basketball games.
