Of course you can tell when someone or a team gives up. You can judge based on prior performance and effort. Someone that has played sports, and not just watches it like you can tell the difference.

Reminds me of last year.

ETA: That was an awful game. But I'd rather lose 45-0 than ever lose 3-2 again.

I don't think giving up in sports is ever a consciously made decision. Can you just emotionally check out because of being fed up or hopeless, yeah, but I don't think an athlete ever says "I'm just gonna stop trying".

Unless you're Jalen Hurds and you don't get to play Receiver...

I'm going to tell you right now you should expect your team to be very similar to the 2012 arkansas team.

I hear a lot of things that give me flashbacks to things I don't like remembering when reading about ole miss.

We still haven't recovered from giving up culture that was established during that year.

And realize after being injured/suspended from playing in the TAMU game and seeing Kamara and Kelly put on a clinic that you're not even the 2nd best RB on the team anymore.

Also, Dooley's teams quit all the damn time. They didn't even do their workouts. They'd sign a sheet and leave and did something quite similar on game days.

"No matter what sport it was"? Really? Dude there's a huge difference between playing pussy soccer and playing football. One sport gives you a penalty card if you make contact where the other it is required to beat the ever living shite out of each other...yeah, there is quite a difference between getting your arse dominated in football and "giving up" in soccer. Only a soccer queer would say something this dumb. There's a huge difference between the 2 sports.

Kiffin was at Tennessee for less than a year, fricked us by leaving past the hiring zone, and left us with penalties that lasted until 2014.

The worst part? We got hit again for the same damn case because Willie Mack Garza commited an infraction by paying for a recruit's official visit and THEN LIED to the NCAA about it after he was long gone from Tennessee -- while he was with Kiffin at USC. That's right, we got punished for someone who was no longer our employee lying to the NCAA who did so not at UT but at USC under the very coach that had royally fricked us. And despite the objection that this was all stemming from a 2009 infraction that had been settled in 2011 and that additional penalties were unprecedented.

Here's the crux and what the NCAA told us:

quote:

At issue in the penalty hearing was whether the penalty in the 2011 case would have substantially differed had the facts of this case been known at that time, whether Tennessee should be punished for unethical conduct by a former staff member working at another institution and whether the penalties were grounded in precedent and substantially related to the violation committed. The Committee on Infractions made it clear that it is establishing new precedent with this case and others moving forward.

The entirety of this case was nothing compared to the OM case and let me repeat and we were penalized and put on probation until 2014. OM isn't getting out of this with a 1 year bowl ban.

What's that got to do with the NCAA hammering OM for more than a 1 year bowl ban? What Kiffin got caught for (and thank God it wasn't for more) was nothing in comparison to what Freeze and OM are facing.

Yes. When I was young I was a pretty good Tennis player. I decided to give professional tennis a try, I was at John Newcolbe's place near Orlando getting some instruction and ran into a West German kid who showed me the difference between good, and great. I hit probably the best shot of my life and watched him run it down and hit it back cross court for a winner. Kid was 14 and John's instructors couldn't handle him either.

That told me cracking the top 50 was probably my ceiling, if that. Very humbling.

After I got home I never played another tournament and started looking at going to college.

I think I came out better in the end. Met my wife registering for classes.

So you're just going to avoid the question and topic entirely and say but but Butch Jones. Jones ain't got shite to do with any of this. And trying to sidetrack me by luring me into defending my university against your nonsense isn't an answer either.
