That’s not the way it works.

Ole Miss doesn’t “release” him because Ole Miss doesn’t have any control of him.

The buyout is simply a penalty for him deciding to move on. Assuming the contract is valid, the buyout is paid based in the terms of the contract. And if not, Ole Miss would sue to enforce it.

Not sure, the only serious accusations I've seen leveled this time were against Kiffin on behalf of OM

Take it up with the NCAA then. They're the ones who wrote the rules on all of this

Plenty of fanbases are complaining about it. Against Lane and every other program in the country. What do you think Duke fans are saying about Miami tonight?

It's all just fans complaining while their team does the same thing. Nothing more. Nothing less.

No need. Ole Miss (per the ncaa) has a certain amount of time to put his name in the portal.

If they do not, Ole Miss will probably be sued by the player.

He could certainly try to - and he may well win. But as it currently stands OM is operating under the current NCAA rules for a player under contract.

For the record I don't like the rules. They don't make a ton of sense and they largely go against contract law. But it is what it is right now.

Everyone tampers. What's your point? Currently there's no penalties for tampering
Yeah - I'm not sure what purpose the NCAA serves anymore. All the lawsuits have neutered them to the point of serving no purpose. I'm not sure they even know what their own bylaws say anymore.

The buyout is a private contract. NCAA portal rules have nothing to do with contracts between players and schools. If Ole Miss refuses to enter his name into the portal, they are in violation of NCAA rules. They will have to settle the buyout issue seperately or get sanctioned and potentially sued.

He sold his rights to enter the portal by signing the revenue share contract with the school. The buyout needs to be paid for him to have the right to enter the portal.

It’s ok that you’re ignorant of the current landscape for college football. It’s changed a lot recently.

if you take a step back and look at it as a fan of college football as a whole, this can’t continue.

It will continue so long as rich dudes with companies want it to. Period.

First it was $100 handshakes
Then cars/houses for families
Then millions in NIL
Next is rev share and “true NIL”

Same shite, new packaging

It will continue and we will all watch.

The irony in all this is when we signed his brother Princely out of the portal from Florida we ran into issues and red tape getting him on campus due to the NIL deal he had in place with the Gators. There’s nothing ‘college’ about NCAA football any more.
