Get rid of conferences so large that all of the members can’t play each other in a season.

I don’t mind keeping it but the runner up should still have a spot in the playoff.

It means you get a week off against an easier team and had to play a much better team.

SEC #3 vs #6 SEC #4 vs #5 This makes more sense to me.. or something like that, preferably avoiding repeat matchups. #1 and #2 should be pretty much guaranteed a spot. Giving those next 2 or 3 teams an extra bullet to make their argument makes a lot of sense to me. As an example #1 Georgia 12-0 #2 Alabama 11-1 #3 10-2 Texas vs #6 10-2 Missouri #4 10-2 Ole Miss vs #5 10-2 Tennessee That should give us 4 teams pretty guaranteed. Georgia, Alabama + 2 winners

This isn’t a terrible idea but will never come to fruition

They’re going to have to change the format entirely soon.

A realistic scenario is UGA going to 10-2 with that gauntlet schedule and having to play in the first round when 10-2 Clemson who didn’t look like they belonged on the same field with Georgia get an auto bid into the Quarter finals and a bye as ACC champs.

The seeding will be changed soon and changes will be made across the sprectrum.

Don't punish everyone else just because your crap program will never be good enough to make it. That's just selfish and unacceptable.

Might be better off finishing 3rd in the SEC and getting in the playoffs and not having an additional game....Teams that get in that don't have a conference championship game will play one less game....Much like Notre Dame if they get in.

12-0 2023 UGA agrees with you.

But 2024 people want to keep hope alive for the new playoff structure.

Playoff should have never been expanded to begin with. Conf Champs and we are done. None of this crap to deal with. Winning your Conf should mean something, now it means nothing at all. Garbage.

4 is not enough, but 12 is too many. The perfect number was and always has been 8. Covers all conference champs plus 4 of the best of the rest. There will rarely ever be seasons with more than 8 playoff worthy teams, almost zero for 12+ if we're honest.

I'd do away with it for the simple reason..the loser of the game prob picks up his 2nd maybe 3rd loss and kicks them out of the play off pic.

if it comes down to a 1 loss Texas, 1 loss bama, and a 1 loss ole miss....tie breaker goes to Atlanta to play GA and picks up that 2nd loss pushing them out of the playoffs...I'd rather not go play GA especially if they are the team that gave you that one loss...no way they let you in.
