Should be a very awesome setting for college basketball. Very cool for basketball in the state.

I went to the first 3 games yesterday (drove back to Atlanta after the Auburn/Iowa game and missed Houston/NKU) and it was an awesome day of basketball. Maryland/WVU was a great game, Alabama went how it should go and the Auburn/Iowa game was a lot of fun.

Is that before or after the 450 dollar charge from ticketmaster?

Charges included

TickPick used to be the best because it didn't have fees, but now that it's been discovered its forced StubHub pricing down to where StubHub after fee basically = TickPick.

It was a blast - seeing the place packed out all day long and tons of people out and about around it while seeing most other sites 50% full was pretty cool. Saturday is going to be great.

On television, the whole venue looked pretty good imo and was probably good PR for the city and state.

Dude Birmingham deserves some kudos for uptown and Citywalk. Those areas are very nice.

People love to dunk on my state but north AL has a lot to be positive about. I’ve been super bullish on Huntsville’s trajectory although I hope they are able to recruit more private business to diversify in the future, but Birmingham has some areas that are top notch and it gave me the impression that it is in a healthy place.

Did the teams go back to Auburn and Tuscaloosa last night or do they stay in Birmingham all weekend?

stubhub allows you to hit the 'include fees' link. That takes the sting out of it a little or least you know the total up front.

Looking forward to Saturday. Should be a cool day that likely won't ever happen again.

I agree completely. I think the tournament has been a positive representation of the state and city.

While I have not lived there in decades, Alabama will always be home so I like to see it presented in a positive light.

How's the venue? I've never been to Legacy Arena before.

I was actually wondering that last night. I'm guessing they stayed in the hotel. I think the NCAA has it all pretty regimented, and they'd be practicing at the arena today anyway.

The arena was extremely clean and nice.

I went to the Jacksonville State game in Greenville, SC last year and the contrast was night and day between the venues I thought. That venue was just old and outdated and the floors were sticky

They did a good job renovating it. It's not an NBA arena or anything, but they did a good job fixing the things that fans want without adding a bunch of super expensive stuff.

Lighting is great, seating is nice, bathrooms and all that are very nice. I didn't do a lot of concession stuff but sounds like that was still a bit of an issue, but the arena itself is a great place to watch a game. Gets really loud in there. The only downside is the ends are way, way far away from the floor. I guess the slope of the seats is too low to add in portable seats (other than the bands you see on TV), so the hockey rink layout basically means the baseline ends seating is an extra 30 yards away from the baseline.

The place was shut down for over a year doing all the renovations. I think this was probably part of the reason they got the games this weekend with the promise to do said renovations.

It was - they put in for hosting 1st/2nd round games immediately after they had a firm timeline for completion. They'll definitely stay in that rotation I'd imagine.
