I love Jase but it might benefit us. He's a little slow. We need explosiveness. Roydell, Jam and maybe even Haynes could be a tougher matchup for Georgia.

Do you think this was due to the OC making adjustments? (The improvement)

Honestly just think it was mostly Proctor and Jalen (along with Roberts coming on). Latham and Booker have been great all year. Seth is what he is, but he's ok in pass pro. The biggest issue was Latham just getting run past multiple times a game.

We started giving him tight end help more on obvious pass downs, but the last few weeks he's been pretty good on his own. Probably the biggest change is Jalen being more decisive. A whole lot of the ungodly number of early sacks were him desperately trying to stay in the pocket or slowly drifting when he should have run or already thrown the ball. He actually took a few steps back (figuratively and literally with the down marker) against Auburn, but for the most part he's made decisions a lot faster.

Even when the sack numbers were crazy early on his "average pocket time" was super high, meaning a lot of the sacks weren't off instant pressure.

I said it with Metchie & Williams and I'll say it again.

If the Tide is considered to be at a disadvantage because of injuries, then one of two situations must be true:

Either Nick Saban can't recruit quality depth, OR...

Saban can't coach the players up once they arrive on campus.

Which is it, Bammers?

So I'm about to make a batshit crazy accusation, but it's based on what I've seen in the NFL over the last few seasons. Coaches are having players fake injuries when they're not needed for certain matchups.

A lot of NFL teams currently carry 4 RB's(albeit 1 is almost always on IR). One is a speed/edge back. One for outside zones. One is a pass blocking/pass catching back. And one is a gap/power runner. That's exactly what you have in Miami with Mostert(OZ, also all around), Achane(EDGE), Wilson Jr(GAP) and Ahmed(PASS PRO). Each one has a unique skillset that makes them "elite" in their role as no back will be the best at everything.

But what I'm noticing is when a team goes up against a team that can cover one of those areas, the offense will typically try 4-5 times(i.e. interior running) or long enough to determine if it works or not. And if it doesn't, the RB used in that area almost always gets injured shortly after. It's like clockwork. And when the team plays a string of games against teams that are strong in defending one of those areas, the player used in that area ends up on IR, allowing the team to replace them w/ another rb or player they'll actually need against the upcoming stretch of opponents

Which brings me to my point. McClellan's scouting says his vision/decision making is meh, he lacks speeds to get around the edge vs fast defenses, and he's bad in pass pro. That's the exact opposite of what Bama needs vs Georgia, the real reason McClellan isn't playing

Jase has great vision and rarely is taken down on first contact. He's very good running inside and timing up holes.

He does not have great separation speed, though, and is average in pass pro (has been much better 2nd half of the year).

He's a very solid college RB and is a tough arse dude, so it sucks he can't play. Hate it for him personally.

I do agree that his skillset is not ideal for exploiting some of UGAs weaknesses, though. He's not a great runner to the edge.

If this going to be the new version of complaining about the refs?

Scouting says he's slow/indecisive at recognizing/committing to open gaps. That's NFL draft scouting, not mine. Bama's going to be running off edge against the 4-2 and throwing deep with Milroe, which requires pass pro to give time for the routes to develop

Yep agree with you - he's not built to exploit those things like Jam is.

We’ll be just fine. Jase McClellan is really not the best we have at that position. He has been just as much or more than he has been in this season. Georgia had the easiest schedule out of all the teams in the SEC…They will realize this very soon.

I feel like he's doing that thing where you pick the first word your phone keyboard suggests, and it just ends up being nonsense.

Bama's back up RB's are usually better than most schools starting rb's

We played 4 of the same teams?

And the only good team Bama played they lost! At Home! By double Digits!

Are y'all having injury problems at LB and safety?

Two of our starters are getting over injuries. Middle LB Lawson is still getting over an injury and isn't 100% and so is our starting safety Key

Kirby is 1-4 vs Saban. The only time Bammer was undefeated was during the Covid season that UGA fans claim should count anyway

Just shite another player. It’s a good thing UGA is immune to injuries
