Dude had lost his fricking mind. He's a 4-6 round pick in the draft. Maybe Mr. Irrelevant.

Same. Eventually it could get out of control and totally bankrupt the sport. All these players and schools forget where the money comes from. It isn’t from some limitless fund. It’s from working people like me and you who spend our earned money to support our favorite teams. With the way things are going, you will start seeing people keep their money. Tickets are more expensive than ever. Merch is more expensive than ever. Tailgating is more expensive than ever. Players don’t stick around and transfer or they opt out of any post season play that isn’t for the natty. At some point, people will stop supporting their teams because the intangibles that separated the college game from the NFL will be gone.

The players are mercenaries now, absolutely zero loyalty to the school. If the future is entrapment and blackmail to keep players then count me out. These guys will do this every single season too.

THIS is what's wrong with College ball now. Greedy, entitled brats who have no sense of team, or loyalty.

NCAA needs to put a salary cap on this lunacy, and fast !

I mean ..I think we should wait to get confirmation on this before the kid gets blasted. Im all for making fun of his looks, but that is proven to be goofy. But demanding 4 mill when he's... been pretty good. That either sounds like NIL agent version of Jimmy Sexton trying to get a raise or just plain false ( kid ain't worth two commas )

a heck of a lot cheaper than NFL contracts.

Exactly. Caleb Williams asking for a stake in the team ownership for whoever drafts him. I wonder if he came off his lofty perch since making that statement?

I despise NIL. Great for actually letting a player cash in on his name, image and likeness but that's not what's happening and it's pure pay for play. OUght to prohibit boosters from paying NIL or contributing to a pool and maybe NIL would actually reflect market value. I used to at least be able to pretend the players loved the school like i do but not anymore.

UTjr paid Nico more than this

We did and in our situation it makes sense. Georgia doesn’t have to overly exert itself to get top talent. Also they’ve proven the ability to win with just decent QB play

Griffith has literally zero connections at UGA. It’s amazing he’s included in anything. He’s being fed this by someone likely. Some of you may recall he leaked that Beck was starting before the UAB game in 2021 and hellllllo Stetson. No way UGA pays him 4 million.

100% correct. NIL would not exist IF labor had been paid for providing labor. It is very common for employees of a company to be forbidden by contract to use their connections to their employer for benefits outside of their salaries. In other words I can't work for Joe's Muffler Shop and sell Loud as frick brand mufflers as an employee of Joe's Muffler Shop without Joe's agreeing to my doing so. UGA, for example, could have made their student athletes employees of the Athletic department and as part of their employment contract they could not use their name, image and likeness as an employee of the AD for gain. The schools and ADs enjoyed years of free labor and never thought they could possibly be wrong since it had always been that way.

Employment contracts could also prevent the transfer portal fiasco.

Name image and likeness have nothing to do with employee status.

The issue arose when a video game was accused of using likeness and not compensating for it.

A video game.

The video game lawsuit led to a Supreme Court review.

The Players now have the ability to use their name image and likeness for themselves (which they always should have been able to do... but no one would allow because it would be so easy to abuse and impossible to regulate).

You are still 180 degrees off of being correct.

The ncaa forbids a player to contract with multiple schools. You can't play for UGA and Clemson.
That is the only regulation forbidden by the scholarship contract remotely resembling your example.

) The biggest thing that's "worked" is having elite defenses in 21 and 22. We regressed pretty good this year, and who knows how much more we might regress in 2024.
2) The QB system that's worked went from a relatively proven guy in JT daniels so a somewhat proven upperclassman in Bennett for multiple years to an unproven but upperclassman in Beck. If he leaves we're looking at an unproven underlassman in Stockton or a true freshman, assuming we don't go to the portal. If Beck leaves our QB outlook is iffy as hell.

Do't worry. Yall are gonna be fine.

Have you seen our schedule next year? I don’t want anyone else leading this team into those road games.
