In a game that had no impact on UGA's season but meant everything for Bama's season.
What Bama fans seem to forget is that once the OkSU game ended, UGA was a lock for the playoff. And that was well before kickoff of the SECCG.
UGA played the game to win, but not as if it would end their season had they lost. When they got down, they didn't pull their starter for a better deep threat passer to try to win the game... because they wanted their starter to be primed and confident for the playoff run.
Regardless of if you think that was the right call or not.. it worked and UGA won the national title. But the call would have been different if winning the SECCG was UGA's only path into the playoff.
You're going to see that more once the playoff expands. When both participants are already in the game... both will treat it as a path to a bye rather than a path to the playoff. That would still have made it mean more if that were in place this last year for UGA, but it's never going to be a season making game for either team ever again once the playoff expands. It becomes a seeding game.

Trigger? I love when Bama fans make that excuse. Please, never stop making that excuse. So many memes have come out of that. It’s just icing on the cake.
