In spite of what you might think, it's hard being the best looking guy on campus.

So, it appears he was always intending to leave after last year, and both he and the team knew that and planned accordingly. He was going pro until his late injury

He declared after the injury and pulled himself back to CFB after a bad eval. What else you got?

I feel like this is going to happen a fair amount in this era. UGA has high expectations. Beck is pretty good, but frustrating at times, and perhaps a little disgruntled/unsettled. Both sides are mildly fatigued with one another in that they're probably not irreparably broken, but the fan base and the player are both wondering if a fresh start would be nice.

Some suitor offers a lot of money, perhaps fair value perhaps more, and the existing school isn't that enthused about competing for a guy they've already got.

I think there is a reasonable chance it backfires a little on UGA, but I also don't think even if so, it was an unreasonable decision.

He wanted UGA to match the offer(s) he got when he pulled himself back to CFB. UGA stayed at his '24 NIL. He left for an upgraded NIL deal. Even upgraded his pussy deal before took is first live snap as a Cane. She up graded he teets but that has yet to awake Cargone from his 18 hours/day slumber time.

t given the way the media works Kirby could have said “play hard” and the reported wrote “harder” to stir it up.

But he didn't, and they didn't.

I got nothing

That's why I asked in the first place.

He definitely has all the tools to be an NFL starter (or at least a high draft choice). I'm a Saints fan, the Saints took somebody in the 2nd rd, that I think Beck would beat out.

Georgia is easily a Top 5 program, and he was the starter the past 2 seasons. Way better team than Miami. UGA would be double digit favorite over them.

We all expected him to leave, to go to the draft. His injury fricked that up with the timing and all.

There doesn't seem to be the normal circumstances surrounding this. There is no "Arch Manning, preseason All American and Heisman favorite" waiting in the wings, that you have to move on to. It's Gunner Stockton, a guy who looked meh as a passer when he got shoved into the spot.
Georgia likely wins the title last season if Beck is healthy in the playoffs.

His numbers weren't bad. They dropped off from the year before, but he still had a good year. And this was without having the best TE in football, or elite WRs, or a potent ground game to take the heat off.

This didn't seem like a Nico situation, where he placed stupid demands without anything to justify it.

I'm not trolling UGA on this, I was trying to figure out why their starter left the program for a downgrade, if his ultimate goal is to make the NFL. Seems like a no-brainer to return to the team he was on, he would have had plenty of attention, a better team around him, and very likely a better year (team record) than where he went.

If that's the only real answer, it sucks for college football.

UGA ain't App State, where you try to move somewhere better after showing something... UGA is where you try to end up. Miami isn't even a lateral move, honestly. You would think an established starter at UGA (LSU, Texas, Bama, etc) is basically off-limits to other schools.

If Beck wanted out, that's different.

But if UGA was willing to keep him, even wanted to, and someone else came and bid him away... that's shitty. That shouldn't happen to one of the major SEC programs

Edit to add... curious why this gets 7 downvotes?
Was there really so much friction last season between Beck and the program, that simply asking why it happened is met with hostility? If so, I didn't notice it.

You’ve gotta be shitting me with this. He still had to pass to receivers with stubs for hands lol. No chance they win the title last year. They probably get by ND though

And, Notre Dame made the finals. So if they're getting past ND, they get to the finals too.

Ohio State's toughest game was against Texas, who was a stupid playcall away from tying that game.

Georgia with Beck beat that same Texas team twice; 30-15 in Austin, then won the rematch (a game where if both teams are good, the losing team has more to work with than the winning team).
