I’m not sure to what extent UGA should be held culpable without more info on their policies and how they enforced them related to the vehicle and the staffer’s position.

If the vehicle driven was owned and insured by UGA, they and/or their insurance company will absolutely have exposure for a lawsuit. You're right, the staffer being the driver doesn't, in and of itself, make them liable but it absolutely does open that door depending on the circumstances, the specifics being something we don't know yet. If part of her duties were driving players around, then they're probably not looking great

Vehicle was rented by UGA for the Celebration parade earlier that day. Wasn’t owned. Still a legal connection and renting these vehicles was routine for game weekends so there’s precedent that could be observed but not quite on the level of driving an AA owned vehicle.

No Sir. I don't. I say let the chips fall. If there's disciplinary or legal action to be taken, then take it. Drunk and stupid are not excuses nor reason to withhold punishment. It just as easily could have been an entire family wiped out from these actions. Have I done it? Yes. I've been drunk and stupid and drove. It wouldn't absolve me from it either, but I was blessed and never had an accident.

I'm not sure how or even if Jalen Carter's actions contributed to the wreck, but if they did he should be treated by the law as any other member of society: no better, no worse.

UGA liability likely ends with the insurance policy on the vehicle. That wasn’t an approved use of the vehicle so there’s no liability that extends to the University beyond that. After the limits are exhausted on the liability policy, the driver of the vehicle is on the hook.

Basically UGA liability ends when the limits of the policy are exhausted. After that the driver of the vehicle is on the hook. If the driver has coverage on their own vehicle, that policy is in play as well as any household policies that may be in force as well. Resident relatives. Then the driver’s personal assets are in play after that. Generally speaking as I don’t have all the coverage language in front of me.

I think just in general, I am going to assume that all signs point to yes, and that the family probably settles a lawsuit for a considerable sum of money without much resistance from the university.

It will be paid for by an insurance company and in turn will trickle down to the consumer.

I felt all along there was more to this story and now we are hearing it. So if it is true that both parties were racing each other then I would imagine civil suits for wrongful deaths are going to be hitting the fan. Especially if there is potential big time NFL money to a certain player.

Ah, yes. Do you feel the same way about Miller? Because many feel the same about that situation as well.

Lol another Florida fan melting. Everyone in the SEC is so terrified of UGA and Kirby they are celebrating our players dying and getting in trouble. The rant is truly pathetic now.

Doublewide mutt, I don't live in south GA.

UF doesn't' have a water polo team but if swimming and diving are any indication, the Gators would kick UGs arse at that too. Face it, it ain't football season right now, so there isn't a sport UG plays in where they are worth watching.

I’m waiting for one of you assholes to try and rationalize why this is Kirby smarts fault. Bc that’s what you want. You want him fired and gone so you can win football games again lol. It’s not his fault tho and nothing is going to happen to him. This happened outside of the football program.

As the main person in charge of the football program, he's responsible for his employees actions. The driver was an employee.

This involved football players and staff of the UGA football program in a rented vehicle that for the purposes of transporting the players to/from the celebration. Going to the strip club after was merely a detour, not a frolic, to the overall goal of transporting the players to/from their respective residences.

Of the University, not the football program. Kirby had no jurisdiction over her.
