Red Drew was coach from 47-54. No title and they sucked balls during Drew and whitworth. Not sure why you think Drew won a national title.

Ranked 11th overall in the 80s and tied for 8th in the 90s according to AP poll finishes.
Multiple titles before the Bear, one in between he and Saban, and certain to have some after.
90+ wins, a couple SEC titles, multiple SEC CG appearances, finished ranked 7 of 10 seasons, 5 x 10 plus win seasons, and a national title in the 90s (they even managed 2 x 10 win seasons during the 2000s probation era). Almost any fan base would take that every decade, but it was mediocre compared to UA football history as a whole, so I guess you're right.
