Was it Bowling Green?
Still played and won an SEC schedule and if we hadn’t started out ranked 20 spots below the other two, we’d have played for the title.

Bowling Green dropped Auburn after an assistant AD left Oklahoma (who did play for the NC) to be AD at Bowling Green and played Oklahoma instead. Oklahoma dropped Citadel and we added them as a quick replacement. Long story short Bowling Green finished in the top 25 for the only time in bvb their existence that year they played and were beaten by Oklahoma, giving Oklahoma 1 more quality win on paper than Auburn.
None of this matters though as USC had a higher payroll than the Jacksonville Jaguars that year and seal clubbed anyone in their way

It was unanimous among the BCS computers that Auburn's schedule was weaker than the other two teams. The voters seemed to think so, too.
Auburn did reach #2 in the AP poll. Not looking strong against Alabama is what killed them.

Yes, see the post above.

Never been a cleaner NC than 2010, frickface. NCAA spent a year on campus and didn’t find a goddamn thing.
Cam Newton was an ineligible player and he was suspended. It was for 1 day. But Auburn played an ineligible player all season and got away with a suspension on a Tuesday after the season was over.
It wasn't clean. It was brushed aside.

Refusing to play an AQ OOC though

Urban was at Utah in 2004. Undefeated that year I believe.

The only time Bowling Green finished ranked was the year before. Otherwise a fair point.

1942 UGA "championship" team lost to unranked 1942 Auburn

Our 1913 claim is more legit than UGA’s 1942 claim. Auburn 3, UGA 2.
Auburn however chose to only recognize poll based rankings. UGA’s claim to 1942 is a joke.

Actually, y'all have played 1 more season than us, cause we didn't field a team in 1943. We were more concerned with helping our country through the dogged year of the war.

Also, 1942 is not listed here... Sorry Dog fans...ncaa.COM.
LINK
NOTE: GT does have 3 recognized... Auburn 2, UGA 1, Bama 17
Now the NCAA record book recognizes 1942 (But OSU won the AP), but they also recognise Auburn 1913, 1957, 1983, 1993 and of course 2010. UGA 1927, 1942, 1946, 1968, 1980 (So 5-5).

As far as Poll Championships, Auburn 2 (57, 2010) UGA 1 (1980).
