Does not square with this statement: Yeah, everybody wants a prima donna like that.
was he a prima donna in HS?
The bottom line......we dodged that bullet. You are taking up for him because he is one of yours.

Come on, dude. How many transgressions did Auburn put with from Duke Williams
I listed them. He was suspended for the entire Outback Bowl for violation of team rules........not a half of a meaningless game. He then got in a fight with another player and was booted from the team.

I have heard from several sources (yeah, I know...sauces and all) that Seth Williams is an absolute handful for Gus.
He seems a bit childish at times. Apparently he has never crossed the line though. As I stated, Duke was our stud while at Auburn. That didn't keep Gus from first suspending him and then booting him.

That is exactly what happened. Duke Williams. He was suspended for the entire Outback Bowl......not a half. At a later date, he got in a fight with another player and was booted from the team.
I looked it up. Duke Williams was kicked off the team:
later AL.com reported that Williams punched four people at a bar.
He punched four people in a bar. Yeah. Sounds very similar to squirting water on another football player.

Probably. They usually don't suddenly turn into prima donnas. But so was Duke Williams who Auburn wanted and Auburn also wanted Pickens out of high school.
quote:Absolutely. No argument there. Just like Auburn people will take up for Seth Williams.

who is comparing the two?
My point was Duke was suspended for an entire meaningful game..the Outback Bowl
Pickens was suspended for a half of a meaningless game..........GT (where he came in in the second half and was promptly kicked out for fighting)
Pickens should have been suspended for the water BS. That is not a "prank". It was a punk act that should have been disciplined.

That was the fight with a teammate that got him booted. That is not separate incidents.

but Pickens is a thug?
I called him a punk. Two different things.
squirting water on an opposing player is a punk move. There is no other way to define it.

Let me make myself clear, because sometimes we get caught up in proving our point, and more important points become obscured.
I have no doubt that Pickens is a handful and keeps Kirby Smart busy. He is absolutely not a model player. That said Kirby......and Gus....both have to weigh the problems a player causes with the benefits they bring to the team. At some point, some players become more of a drag on the team than a help and coaches take final actions. yes, Gus has done that on more than one occasion. (I think it has been more than once) I in no way meant to insinuate that Gus does not take action.
My apologies if I did.
Kirby has taken action on a couple also, though. Holloman being one, and a couple that I choose to forget and would have to do research to find.

sure we wanted him just like you wanted Tank.
Not even close to the same level. Tank was a straight miss by us. He's not someone who was committed to us for 2 years as the best player in the state and then switched at the last minute.

He punched FOUR people, not "a teammate" then. Was it four teammates, or a team mate and some buddies? Because i had heard that he had gotten into some fights at practice, too.
quote:So squirting water on somebody makes you a punk?
I called him a punk. Two different things.
quote:Classless? Yes. Wrong? Yes. Disrespectful? yes. Is it worse than going after a defenseless QB with intent to hurt? (yes, I will bring up Fairly)

Was that a punk move? I mean, Auburn fans defend that as retaliation for some of Georgia's OLine targeting Fairly. But why go after a player not involved with it at all? Punk move, or was that okay?
One involves squirting water, the other involves potentially career ending hits.

Have there been any reports saying he will or not? FanDuel purposes are at stake lol

Last I heard, the word is that he would play. Always subject to change, of course. I think he will be out there, but given the choice I would probably go with Kearis Jackson making a bigger impact.

Malzahn’s best year was with a QB who was kicked out of UGA for stealing from his own teammates. Not a lot of moral high ground to stand on there.

It's crazy though. I've watched him along the sidelines when Smart was instructing him and he always looks straight at Smart and is nodding. He seems to take the criticism well, but allows his emotions to get the best of him on the field.
Kyle Davis was like that. Dude had all the talent in the world and seemed to be coachable but just could not get out of his own way

His other best yeas, while he was an OC was with a QB who was kicked out of another school for stealing laptops. I find it odd for all of the Auburn angst over Pickens behavior problems after all of the behavior problems they have had and have accepted into their program.
I have always acknowledged that most of the problems Auburn has taken have behaved themselves after going to Auburn, but for them to ask if Pickens was a "prima donna in high school" is odd, at best.

I really liked Kyle Davis, looking at him from afar. He always seemed to be a player who played hard. I didn't know he had some problems. But, like I said...every team has them. Nobody is immune.
I've always had respect for you Lanier. You have always seemed to try to be fair.

I didn’t read all the bullshite in this thread but I will say that a healthy George Pickens will return to his Freshman performance with competent to good QB play. If it’s great QB play (jury still out I suppose) then he will torch the remainder of the schedule.

Frankly, after UGA signed Milton, we were never getting Tank. It was well-known he did not want to be part of a 2 back class.

Squirting water on Tennessee football player. How he wasn't disciplined for that is beyond me.
He's a head case

100%. There were multiple issues that have never been publicly discussed.
FWIW, I can tell you with absolute certainty that Alabama took these into account during his recruitment (and ultimate lack thereof).
I’m really rooting for George, and he is an amazing athlete, but he needs help from someone who can mentor him, and it’s not at all related to coaching on the field.
