He seems to have the same opinion, only knowledgeable football people should be on the committee and they should be able to break down film to analyze teams. He says if you've never coached, its hard to analyze teams.

Don't know why this is such a hard concept to grasp

A couple of grumpy old. Racist, sexist, 19th century minds, part of what still makes the South such a laughing stock to the rest of the country

I feel the same way about people who don't understand why the people who don't have coaching experience were picked.

Did his old arse ever coach against the spread? Can he break that down and teach a D how to defend it? Some might say all he knows about football is three yards and a cloud of dust. The game has changed since he's been around. So should we dq him? There is ALWAYS an argument for why someone shouldn't be there.

Do these coaches not want condi on the committee because she's female, or because she's never played football? I mean I realize women don't play football, but I don't think it has much to do with sexism

I honestly haven't read a single quote by these coaches and have just gone by the OP's. Maybe their comments are sexist?

Why are we so keen on senile old farts dictating how we manage college football?

There has never in history been a recorded case of someone getting smarter after 60. The reverse, however...

I think Condi is good enough to be on the committee, better than actually having gene stalling or pat dye there.

Nah, not brainwashed, not from England, simply willing to move forward, expand my thinking to include new possibilities. We gave women the vote. Why who knows what they can accomplish. Given new responsibilities.

Our former SoS is more than capable of sitting in on a comittee thats sole purpose is to whittle five or six teams down to four.

Saying otherwise is pure ignorance.

Meh, she'll be just like any of our elected officials (Senators, Representatives). Such is life with controlling bodies.

That would be a legitimate argument if they were complaining as much about the other people on the committee who don't have football experience.

If you've never attempted alchemy, you don't understand whether or not you can turn lead into gold. I'm not sure why this is so hard to understand.

I agree, though I think Gene was a little more cool headed about his critique. Dye is a damned idiot and clearly doesn't know a damned thing about Condi's relationship with football. If you are going to have people who weren't coaches and/or players (which I think you should), Rice is about as good a choice as you can make just based on resumes.

No one is suggesting stallings or Dye should be on the committee or any random coach or person who played football

B/c he is wrong. They aren't breaking down the teams to play against.

They are simply looking at who is more deserving for a 4 team playoff.

You don't need to have coached to do that.
