Was a better coach than Malzahn. What is Auburn gonna do when they realize they fired a NC winning coach and hired a guy whose genius play calling consists of running the same damn read option every series.

Gene could have at least beaten A&M this year and made it look competitive against UGA and Bama. Thoughts?

I think Gene is definitely a better overall football coach.

I also think Gene is a terrible "people manager" and doesn't know how to run a program.

I think to this point, Malzahn gets the nod because of his ability to manage his players and staff.

This is just trying way too hard. The worst beat down I've seen in the SEC (even worse than the beat down Bama put on A&M this year) was the beat down that A&M put on Auburn in Gene's last year. It was brutal.

I think i may be parsing out what you're saying too much, but the one thing I thought chiz excelled at was, for lack of a better term, CEO-ing.

That all makes sense considering Chizik's worst year by far was the only year that Gus wasn't on his staff.

Not trolling, just really think Chizik should have been given an opportunity to improve after that years poor performance. Yes, that year was horrible for AU, but come on, everyone has down years. The man did just win a NC.

Everyone wants to point to Gus and say "oh he's the reason we won!" but I really think you give Gus way to much credit.

The offense Gene was trying to run that year didn't fit the personnel who Gus helped recruit for his offense.

ThIs may be a matter of symantecs, but he Chizik had an outstanding knowledge of coaching, but couldn't inspire or gel the program. Malzahn made up for this deficit. Just my 2 cents

Why beat up on him some badly after one horrible season? He should have been given the opportunity to rebuild.

I guess it could be worse. We could settle for underachieving every year, when we have some of the best talent in the Conference. I guess we would be saying how nice of a person Gus is.
